Chapter 2: unbreakable vow

The world is changing. A lot. I keep on getting the weirdest cravings for peaches and beef. My taste buds have started getting all weird. Anythinh that I usually eat tastes awful and the weirdest and nonsensical combinations taste like heaven.

Why did mom never tell me what you experience through pregnancy? Ugh. Sometimes I shift between thoughts where I either want to kill myself or everybody around me.

Aaanyways, I got some awesome news from Zoey. We went to the mall to do some super early Christmas shopping (thank you driver's license!!) and we talked about how our lives are getting on.

"Zoey, this pregnancy is driving me crazy." I said.

"Oh, I'm sure it can't be that bad." She replied, causing me to shake my head.

"Zoey, sometimes I get cravings for the weirdest things, and I caught myself almost yelling at Brandon. Every time I have the same meal, it tastes completely different."

"Oh... So it is that bad then, huh."

"You have no idea. But..."

"But what?" She asks in anticipation.

I sigh and look at her. "Every time I feel a little kick, I can remind myself that I'm going to be a mom. That this tiny thing living in me, is what I will be willing to die for, and it is my own child, who I can raise and see it turn into a newer blend of me and Brandon."

I could see Zoey wipe a tear away from her eye. "So those are the reasons to be happy in pregnancy." She said, as I went to sit beside her.

"Can I say hello to it?" Zoey asked, pointing at my stomach.

"Sure! Jamie, meet auntie Zoey. Auntie Zoey, say hi to Jamie!" I said, giggling.

Zoey leaned down so that her head was even with my stomach. "Hi Jamie! Nice to meet you!" She waved at the baby.

"Okay... Enough about my weird pineapple cravings, let's talk about you and Theo. How are you guys holding up?"

Zoey looked down, bit her lip and blushed. She giggled.

"What?" I said, rather confused.

"Nikki, look." She said, lifting her hand

"What? What is it? Am I supposed to see something?" I asked, scanning through her palms.

Zoey shook her head, and giggled. "Nikki! Look at my fingers!" She said while lowering down one of her hands.

I looked at each one. "What about t....." That's when I noticed the sparkly object around a finger. "IS THAT A WEDDING RING?!" I yelled, quite shocked and ecstatically happy.

"Yes! Theo and I are engaged!!" She squealed. Everyone in the shop stared at us as if we were a two headed pig on drugs.

I yanked Zoey's hand into the air, yelling "Hey staring people! See this awesome girl over here? She's engaged!!" Zoey took her hand off, and shot me a sarcastic glare.

"So when did he propose?"

"It was so sweet! He took me to an ice skate rink. I thought that maybe I could teach him a few things from skating, but he surprised me when he reached ME a few moves. We both ended up skating together, arms linked, swaying in rhythm. "

"That is adorable!" I said, squashing my cheeks to make me look like a fish.

(A/N: this next part I didn't make up. It happened to my English teacher when she got engaged this year. Congrats Mrs. Strydom!!)

" after that, we ate a candle lit dinner at his place, which was wonderful. When we were finished, Theo took down a book from the shelf, which was my favorite

one. Harry Potter and the half blood prince.

He placed it in front of me. I opened up where there was a bookmark. It was the chapter with the name... The unbreakable vow. Inside, there was a ring."

"Oh my gooooosh!! I feel like I'm having a fangirl heartattack!" I said, squealing.

"Nikki! No heart attacks! You're pregnant, remember?" Zoey replied, winking playfully.

"Riiiiiiiight."

And with that, we went home.
