Candy put her hand over her mouth. Her eyes widening slight. She quickly typed back.
Candy: I'm coming.
She backed her Honda out of the parking space and drove toward the opposite end of the island. Candy was driving slowly passed all the public access markers. Finally she came to the last one, near the end of the island. She then saw Gabe's black Land Rover with tinted windows sitting in a parking lot. She sighed with relief and turned into the parking spot next to him. Candy got out of the car and walked up to the window, it was empty to she pulled out her phone and shot him a quick text.
Candy: Where are you?
She waited and waited but he didn't reply. She looked toward the beach and saw a bridge that led down onto the sand. Reluctantly she took careful steps over the old wooden bridge. In the dark she could hear the sound of the waves, the sounds of the waves crashing started to get louder and louder as she crossed over the bridge onto the beach. Her heart starts beating faster, her breathing picking up pace as she spots a dark figure off in the distance. She paused and grinned to herself shaking her head slightly as she looked up at the night sky and only saw one moon. She picked up her pace walking towards the dark figure, as she got closer she saw that it was indeed Gabe sitting in the sand, on the edge of the dunes. She smiled and went over and sat next to him.
He looked over at her and smiled. "No planet"
She laughed lightly and looked up at the dark night sky. "So I see."
Gabe scooted a bit closer to her. "Sorry, I didn't see your text"
Candy began twirling a piece of her hair around her finger. "It's no worries"Gabe was looking out as the waves hitting the edge of the sand. "So... What are you doing tomorrow?"
Candy pushed her wind blown hair out of her face. "I want to go to the college and talk to a placement counselor. I am thinking about going to school."
"What major?" Gabe asked turning to look down at her.
"I'm not really sure yet. Probably something to do with Psychology" Gabriel sat silent, Candy immediately felt a sadness come over her. She heard the little voice in her head that sometimes popped up when she least wanted it to.
"He's silent because he's judging you... He doesn't think you can do it.. You aren't smart enough to get through college."
Gabe noticed the troubled look on her face. "Are you alright?"
Candy smiled and sat up straight trying to appear okay. "Uhm," She cleared her throat. "Mhm yeah I'm great."
