Chapter 32

About halfway through the movie the Lynches front door bangs open and i hear Ryland exclaim, "football is way better!" I hear a girls voice reply with, "no way! not even close! Soccer is way better!" Ryland yells, "football!" the girl yells back, "soccer!" "football!" "soccer!" "football!" "soccer!"

Riker groans, "there at it again!" I look at Riker, "who exactly?" I ask when Ryland and some girl with light brown hair and brown eyes burst into the living room. The girl stops when she sees Riker and I, "hi." I say politely still unsure who she is. She looks at me and says so quietly in can hardly hear her, "hi" Ryland turns around, "Oh! Nova you don't know Katie! Well this is one of our friends Katie."

I turn to Katie, "hi Katie I'm Nova, Rikers girlfriend." "yes she is mine!" Riker says wrapping is arms around me and pulling me to him. I laugh and wriggle out of Rikers grip, "not if you act like that!" I reply. "fine!" Riker huffs then kisses my cheek. "hi Nova sorry i was so quiet I'm kinda shy around strangers but you seem nice!"

"so you and Ryland are friends?" I ask. "yep!" She says throwing an arm around Ryland, "Ry-Ry and I are besties, friends for ever!" I laugh and Ryland looks kinda depressed, what? depressed? Maybe because she called him Ry-Ry, yeah that's probably why. "you know he hates that right?" I ask. Katie smiles, "oh yeah that's why i call him that!'

Ryland rolls his eyes and pulls Katie up the stairs, "lets go before you embarrass me!" I hear him tell her. I look at Riker, "I've known you for more than two months how have i never met her?" i ask. "well her parents are divorced so for two months she lives with her dad in Colorado and the other two here in LA with her mom. We actually met her in Colorado." Riker tells me.

"oh makes sense, hey do you know why Ryland looked all depressed when Katie said that they are friends forever? I thought it was because she called him Ry-Ry but usually he just seems annoyed when we call him that."

Riker laughs, "well here's the thing Ryland has had a HUGE crush on Katie since like forever but she never really seems to get it so friends forever is kinda like getting forever friend zoned." "ohhhh well now i feel bad for him!" Riker nods, "yeah." "does anyone know if Katie likes Riker back?" "no ones asked her."

"be right back." I say with a sly smile, Riker shakes his head, "oh no" he mutters as i run up the stairs. "i heard that!" i call behind me. "dang it!" Riker mumbles, "that to!" "I'm just gonna stop talking now!" "good idea!"

I get up the stairs and burst into Ryland and Rosses room to see Katie and Ryland staring at me. "Katie can i talk to you?" I ask, she looks surprised, "uhh yeah sure."  She walk out of the room and i wink at Ryland. I lead Katie into Riker and Rockys room (Rydels room is taken ;) if ya know what i mean).

"what do you need?" Katie asks me looking nervous. "oh I just wanted to know if you ever had feelings toward any of the Lynches?" I ask nonchalantly. Katie looks at me suspiciously, "why?" "because i know one of them have a crush on you." I reply. Katie looks hope full, "who!" "I cant tell you that i need to know who you have a crush on?" i reply. "you suck!" "yeah i know!' i reply and Katie smiles.

"ok you need to promise not to tell anyone one who i like because i know i have absolutely no chance ok?" i nod, this could be interesting, "i promise." "ok i like Ryland, hes so adorable, and totally out of my league!' I almost burst out laughing but luckily i contain myself. "so who likes me?" Katie asks eagerly. "sorry i cant tell you that." "NOVA!" "what i cant!" i tell her as we walk back into Ryland and Rosses room.

Ryland looks at me nervously as we walk in and Katie sits back down on Rosses bed facing Ryland. "Ryland Katie has a crush on you." I blurt out. Katie turns to me, "NOVA!!" she yells but i am already running out of the room. I shut the door and lean against it to listen.
