"What kind of shuck face Builders are you!" I exclaimed as I grabbed a hammer out of one of the guys hands. I took up one of the few precious nails we had and positioned it over the first board before driving it into the second one, interlocking them. "See that!" I exclaimed. "That's how you drive a shucking nail." Then I shoved the hammer back into his hands and continued my route.
We were barricading the doors as best as we could and while our materials weren't the best, it would have helped if the idiot builders stopped klunking their pants. Gally had disappeared. I hadn't even noticed but apparently everyone knew about it. Newt said it happened after Thomas came back from that crazy fit of his where he said Teresa was talking to him in his head.
Speaking of Teresa, she was currently locked up. After we left the woods, Newt and Alby lost their shucking minds and threw her in the cell. I told her they had done the same to me and that she would probably be safer down there then up here with us. I'm actually surprised they didn't throw both Thomas and I down there with her. Instead, Newt had turned to me and said, "Lead the Builders."
So that's what I was doing and they were shucking useless. Everyone was running around, bringing us every scrap of metal and wood we could spare and while I had fixed many a mistake of theirs already, it wasn't enough, the small walls still looked weak and pathetic. But it was the best we could do.
"Newt, you have to let her out." I looked up and found Thomas and Newt arguing not to far away. I shook my head at them. Arguing about letting her out would get Thomas nowhere. Teresa would be safe, safer than than the rest of us anyways. I don't know what he was so worried about. "We can't fight them off." I perked up again. The conversation had taken a turn. Newt scoffed and shook his head at Thomas.
"Done it before haven't you Hercules?" I marched forward. I wasn't going to let Thomas drown like that.
"Newt, this time is different and you know it. They're coming here. We're not going out there." I said forcefully, pointing behind me at one of the gates. Newt just stared at me.
"And that's why we need to worry about right now. Tonight. Not tomorrow, not that girl. Tonight." We just stared at each other. I frowned. "Finish up you buggin shanks!" Newt shouted. Everyone began working at a quicker pace. If that's even possible. "Get back to the homestead Mallory, Thomas." Then without even looking at us, he turned and walked away. I sighed and Thomas shared my moment of distress.
"I'm going to go see Teresa." He murmured jogging away.
"Okay, be careful and get inside as soon as your done." He nodded to me and took off in the direction of the Homestead." I decided to find Minho before heading inside. Luckily he wasn't far away.
"Mallory get your shank butt into the Homestead." He said firmly, pointing at the house.
"Not yet." I said, moving forward to help the other builders. Minho put his hand on my shoulder and pushed me back.
"Yes. Right now. Go." I pushed his hand away.
"You can't tell me what to do and Newt put me in charge of the Bui.."
"I don't care if he made you the buggin Queen of this palace! Get inside now." He seemed a bit frantic as he said this and there was something in his eyes...
"Fine. Come with me." I said grabbing his hand.
"No, I can't I.." He gestured to the other guys.
