chapter two•fallingforyou
[Amelie's Point of View]
"Why were you guys so early?" I asked. "You shouldn't have been at the house until twelve."
"We wanted to surprise you," Ashton said from the front of the van.
"I sure as hell was surprised," I told them, making Skye laugh in agreement.
"So, what kind of pizza did you guys order?" Michael asked, looking to Skye.
"Hawaiian and bacon," Skye answered, turning a little pink.
"Dig in," I told him. He had already opened the box, and started on his first bacon slice.
"Pass me a Hawaiian while you're at it." I told him, and Skye passed one to the back of the van.
"It's her absolute favorite," Skye commented. "She would eat all the Hawaiian if she could."
"Haha, yeah," I agreed.
"Really?" Luke asked. "You don't look like a very big eater." He lifted up my left arm.
"I eat more than you'd think," I told him. "Much more than you'd think."
"I'll take a Hawaiian too," Calum said, taking one from Skye.
"So, you guys in college?" Ashton asked.
"Yep," I responded with pizza in my mouth.
"Where d'you go?"
"We both go to community colleges... Nothing special," I said.
"What're your majors?"
"Music major, Business minor," Skye said, her mouth stuffed with pizza as well.
"Music major, art minor," I told them.
"Ah, being ambitious?" Ashton asked me.
"Very," I told him.
The rest of the ride to the airport we spent getting to know each other, and becoming friends. We talked and talked about the most idiotic things, but we had a nice time talking. However, by we, I mean the boys and me, not Skye. Skye was on her phone, her fingers frantic and quick when typing. I don't know who she was texting, what she was texting about... Maybe it was that we were in a van with 5 Seconds of Summer themselves, but I wasn't sure.
"It's funny," I told them. "Yesterday, we were just fans, complete strangers, and now we're friends... It's actually really weird, if you think about it."
"Yeeeaaahhh," Michael said, looking over Skye's shoulder. He made it obvious that he was curious to know who Skye was texting. And so was I.
"Alright, we have arrived!" Ashton exclaimed. He seemed to be the most enthusiastic member, always positive and happy. I liked it. It was a nice change from the stressful environment I lived in.
Skye was the first to get out of the van, plunging her phone into her pocket. She was certainly hiding something, but I had no business in asking what. Whenever things like this were to happen, she liked to have her space. I'd ask her about it later. She'd be ready to talk by then.
Calum got my suitcase out of the van, and refused to let me wheel it myself as he did before. It was extremely frustrating, but at the same time, extremely sweet and polite.
Skye wheeled her own, and kept a completely straight face.
Body guards surrounded us once again, shielding us from the many fans waiting outside the airport. Many fans.
