PIC OF THE RING---------------->

I woke up with the light in my eyes and stretched, but finding i was on the floor, yet again. I tended to always fall asleep when i was working and apparently last night had been no different. I sat up and looked around the living room which was my work space. There was marker all over the walls along with pictures of all those that had gone missing in the state in the past eight years. There had to be more connecting them then the one thing that i had found. They all had mates, that was the only thing i could think of, but the last four made the pattern void.

I sighed and got up, walking to the kitchen which was the only other room on the main floor i went into besides the bathroom. I wouldn't go into Cole's office anymore and i wouldn't go into his gym in the back of the house. Any room that he spent the most time in, i could barely stand to be in. I was barely in the bedroom, i had gotten so used to sleeping on the floor that the bed didn't even seem comfortable anymore.

I stood at the sink, washing my morning fruit, thinking about my life, like i usually did when i first woke up in the morning. So much has changed since i lost him. There was always a black hole in my life where he should have been. I filled most of my days with work and reporting to the two places i had to. I reported to Richard first and to David, my evil overseer. He seemed so nice at first, but then i found he was really just an ass. He was always insulting me and calling me names, acting as though i didn't exist at the meetings for all the seers. At least Lina seemed to like me, but she wouldn't let David know that.

I dried my hands and looked at my ring. Even though Cole had been in the wrong to ask me to marry him when he knew he was leaving me, i couldn't help but charish that ring like it was the only thing in the world. It really was beautiful, something to remind me of him. It was like there was something he wanted me to know, but i never knew what because he left before he could tell me, and then i watched him die in that fire. I would never forget the look on his face or his screams as he died. I knew that the spirit was gone, but so was my Cole.

I heard the knock on the door and i sighed. I slipped the ring on and headed to the front door. I opened it and found Richard standing there with Gabriel at his side. Gabriel pulled me into a hug like he always did when he saw me, and sighed as he entered, seeing the living room. Richard looked around, checking my progress. He didn't seem all the impressed.

"Anything?" he asked, sitting on a folding chair.

"No," i sighed, leaning against a section of none marked wall. I can't find anything that connects them.

"What about you seeing lines?" he asked, and i was beginning to get irritated. He asked me this every time that he saw me, and it was always like there was some joke to his words.

"No," i snapped, this time more fiercely. "I don't get what you want from me Richard, there's nothing more to learn. I have spent the better part of the past eight years looking into this case. There is nothing to connect them." i paused and looked at the dozens upon dozens of pictures. "Nothing and something."

"Stop talking in riddles and figure it out," Richard snapped and i bite my lip to keep from snapping back. He threw five more case files at me and left, but Gabriel didn't leave.

"What crawled up his ass and died?" i growled and Gabriel laughed. He hadn't been the same since his dad was taken. His sister, Jules and her husband Matt had moved on, accepting that he was dead, but Gabriel wouldn't take that as an answer. Katie had gotten so used to Gabriel being at work, since she was as well. She worked fr Asel, doing things that Gabriel couldn't know about to begin with, but i knew. Katie was working the same case as us, but she was doing the more risky stuff then us, putting herself out there in situations to get herself taken.
