After some more time at the gym with Xander he went home and so did I. As Marty and I got home I could see a light in the living room was on. I went around to the back gate. It was ten I would not get in too much trouble but I would not be let off scott free for not telling them where I had been. As I walked into my room I was in the clear, normally. In the corner chair sat my mom.

"Where have you been?" She asked.

"I was at the gym with Xander. I took Marty." I said as I walked into the bathroom starting the shower.

"Ok who is Xander?" She asked. As I came back in the room getting my pajamas.

"My new practice partner." I said. I would have thought dad told her but why would he do that when I can be his scape goat.

"Your father has you training with a boy!?" She asked like I could not hold my own.

"Ya he's nice." I said trying to down play her anger. Apparently not a good idea.

"How old is this boy? How tall is he? How big is he?" She asked I cut her short or she could have gone on forever.

"He is a good fighter. He is my age and goes to my school. We have some of the same classes. He is from Aussie land and he has long brown hair, brown eyes. He is six foot one and he is not so big. I honestly thought dad told you." I said.

"No why would your father tell me anything about your training? It's not like I am your mother." She said sarcastically. "I mean he never tells me anything anyway."

"Im going to jump in the shower and go to bed." I said cutting the my father is horrible speech short.

Once I got in the shower I knew the storm had barely begun. I stood under the hot stream of water and could hear my parents out in some other part of the house over my music being played in the bathroom.

After I got out I could still hear them. Marty crawled in bed next to me. Her face pressed into my side. I curled up with her and fell asleep trying to block out my parents anger at each other.

The next morning I woke up early. My alarm went off as I was getting dressed. It was a nice morning so I put on workout shorts, sneakers and a tank top. I grabbed my bag and went out the back door.

When I got to school I went strait to the cafeteria and got breakfast. Classes were boring and my friends were fun. A normal day at school if you asked me. I had not told Xander that my mom found out last night. We both had enough fighting in our lives why bring mine into his.

As we walked out of school he asked if we were going back to my house. I told him that we should probably avoid my house but if he wanted to study somewhere else I was okay with that. As we walked down the street we both heard a voice call out Xander's name. As we turned toward it I watched a girl about my height collide with Xander. She was wearing light skinny jeans and a small black crop top that said "Because I Can!" Her sandals were red and sparkly. She squealed "Alex!" His dark brown hair fell like a curtain around their faces and met hers as they kissed. I did not know what to do I was about to ask him if he wanted to go get Marty and go for a run before this girl showed up. I judged by him kissing her back that they knew each other. Her hands were literally in his back pockets. I stood looking everywhere else but at them.

When I could not take the awkwardness anymore I kicked Xander in the back of the calf lightly. He pulled away from her with a laugh. "Sorry Nicole this is Madison my girlfriend. Maddie this is Nick my training partner." He said as he faced me with is arm around her waist.

"When you said Nick I thought boy." She said. "Your trainer allows you to fight with guys? How do your parents feel about that?" She asked.

"My dad is my trainer and my mom is coming around to the idea. Besides I can't go against Xander in the ring. He is just better training for some of the bigger and faster girls I go against." I said.

When nothing was said for a bit I finally spoke up. "Well I am going to go get Marty and go for a run before it gets too late." I said pulling my back pack tighter around my shoulders. Xander waved and said he would see me tomorrow.

I went home and did just that. I went in the back door. Marty was sprawled across my bed. She bounced up and greeted me with some licks to my hands and face. I grabbed her leash and we went for a walk. I talked to Marty as different songs played in my headphones.

When we reached the park I let Marty off her leash. She scrounged around with some of the other dogs. I set to working out around the playground. I was surrounded by kids playing and laughing. The sound that broke through the music though was a high pitched female scream. I dropped from the monkey bars and ran to the sound.

As I showed up I could see Madison looking horrified and Xander on the ground Marty on top of him. "Mart! Off." She pouted as she walked over. "You know better." I said scolding her. Xander sat up laughing. Madison moved away from Marty.

"She is fine. I called it on myself. Didn't I Mart?" He asked looking down at her as he pet her head.

"That is your dog?" Asked Madison.

"Ya, this is Marty." I said looking at the girl.

"She? Your dog is huge." She said. I had to bite my tongue to not list off larger dogs than Marty. I just laughed and looked at Xander for help.

"She's just like Mimi, but bigger." Said Xander. This sentence made Madison gush.

"Oh my gosh Mimi is my chocolate Pomeranian. She is a show dog." She said and looked at Marty with a stink eye. Like my obedient champion pure bred German Sheppard was somehow less of a dog then her possible snotty purse puff.
