Chapter Six - Welcome Home Soldier

It had been a month and Emalie was growing worried. She sat at a window looking out it with a longing look. Waiting. Watching. Hoping. She did move from that seat for anything.

Bruce had to watch after Aiden and help Emalie eat. Emalie finally sniffled and looked down. She twiddled her thumbs and a tear fell down her cheek.

"I made the worst mistake of my life making them go to a dangerous place..." She stated. "I feel so guilty...they're dead because of me."

At that very moment the door opened and everyone looked it. In walked a bruised and beaten, but smiling soldier. He was holding a bottle with fire inside of it. He was the one and only, Steve Rogers. Emalie got up and ran to him as he open his arms.

"STEVE!" She yelled tears streaming down her face. She cried into his chest as he wrapped his arms around her tightly.

Steve smiled softly and kissed her head. "I guess I win...But I made a stop on the way home." As she looked at him, he wiped her tears and got down on one knee. He took her hands in his and looked down then up at her nervous. "Emalie Jane Summers. I have known you for 5 years and I have been with you throughout your time here at S.H.I.E.L.D. I have been on missions with you and I have saved your life multiple times." He took a small box out of his pocket and her eyes widened as she placed a hand over mouth. "And..I was there when Aiden was born. I have officially gained your love and trust. And I wish to help you raise Aiden but not just as his caretaker...but his father." He opened the box to reveal a shiny expensive diamond ring with a ruby on each side of the middle jewel. "Emalie Jane Summers with you do me the honor making me the happiest hero in the world and marry me?" He looked at her.

Emalie was covering her mouth with both hands and sobbing. She nodded quickly without words. Steve smiled and placed the engagement ring on her finger. He stood and removed her other hand to kiss her lips gently. Xassic squealed and clapped extremely excited.

Steve placed his forehead on Emalie's as she sniffled and smiled closing her eyes. Emalie gave a light chuckle as she bit her lip. "This is the greatest day of my life Steve." She whispered softly to him. "Now are you Steve Summers or am I Emalie Rogers?" She opened her eyes to look at him.

He chuckled as Xassic walked over to them. She turned her sister to her and inspected the ring on her finger. "Hey. What do ya know...It's real. How much was it?" She smirked. "Not like you would afford it anyways Stevie."

"$2,500 was the price. I got the money from the bank by a check. I know Tony's social security number AND Emalie taught me how to forge his signature." Steve stated.

"Uh-huh..." She gave her sister a raised eyebrow and pressed her tongue inside her cheek. "Mmm yea she and I are gonna have a chat about that." She looked at Steve again. "Where's frosty McFrozen?"

Steve shrugged. "Last I saw him, he followed some sort of 'shortcut' in Svartálfar."

Emalie just shrugged and walked away to her son's crib. She bent over and picked up Aiden. Bruce pulled Xassic to the side.

"Okay so I did the test on Aiden like you asked for and he does not have the sickness. Once your sister is treated with the second surgery and takes the medicine for another month BEFORE she becomes pregnant again, her second child won't have it either and so on and so forth." He explained looking at her.

"Alright thanks." Xassic replied back with a small smile. "That's one less thing I have to worry about. So What about Freya and Odin?"

Bruce took a deep breath and stracted the back of his head. "Well...Freya doesn't have it but her brother does."

"What?!" Xassic had a look of worry across her face.

"Woah Xassic relax. Don't worry. It's still at the very early stage. One surgery will do and he'll have to take the same medication as your sister for 2 months."
