Ashley~
"Just...just..leave me alone. I came her to eat, not to talk about my petty feelings. It doesn't matter anyway, now that he's gone..." She drifted off, still looking into her hoodie.
"Oh I'm so sorry Sam. I wish he wasn't gone. I couldn't imagine how it feels." I said, with a pained heart. If only there was a way to change him back....
Emily and Matt walked in, taking a seat next to us.
"So, uh, what have you been up too." Matt said awkwardly.
"To be honest, nothing really." Chris replied.
We all sat there is silence. We ordered our food and waited for it to come.
"You guys wanna come back to my house after this?" I asked, trying to break the awkward silence.
"Why not, it's not like we've got anything better to do." Sam said quietly.
We ate in silence.
"What now guys? Are we never going to go back to our old selves? Our old lives? Are we never going to have fun together every again?" Emily bursted out, guessing she couldn't take the silence any longer.
"We need time to get over the ones we lost, Emily. It's going to take time. We'll eventually get back to our care free selves, just not now." Sam replied.
Emily shut up. She knew that she missed Josh as well.
After paying, we went back to my house. I had an idea. It was crazy, but it was possible. I pulled Sam aside.
"Do you miss Josh?" I questioned.
"Ashley, I told you, I don't want to talk-"
"Just tell me if you miss him."
"Hell, what kind of question is that! I fucking miss him so much! I feel so much guilt! So much pain!" She broke down.
"I think I know a way we could get him back..." Her eyes lit up at my statement.
"How?"
"Listen, my cousin is a scientist. She's studying cancer and I'd figure if she's looking for a cure for cell deformities, then she could probably find a cure for the weindigo."
Sam thought about my statement.
"But, to study the cells, we would need a sample......" She drifted into thought. That would mean going back to get one of the pieces of on of the wendigos.
"I'm not telling you to do anything, but I'm just letting you know, if we could get a sample, my cousin could try to find a cure."
She stayed silent, weighing the pros and cons of getting a sample.
"Do you really think we could get them back?" She said with hope in her voice.
"Just maybe if we get a sample.."
"I gotta go..." She said starting to nod her head running out the door.
She was too caring of a person to leave them down there. If there was even a slim chance of saving them. What have I done.
