It's been two months. I've been seeing Justin in the church. Always playing with his piano, we never spoke to each other, there were times we glance at each other but, we look away as fast as possible. It hurts like hell not being able to talk to him, I miss him. But what can I do, we won't even give me his attention. I felt my heart breaking even more.
"Cailey!" Someone was calling me from behind.
As I looked behind me, I saw another one. I saw Glenn. What?! First I bump into Kenneth, now Glenn. What is going on?
"Hi.. What are you doing here?" I asked him. I was shocked. Suddenly I was smiling.
"Uhmm.. I just got home from London, I just wanted to give you this." He went behind me and put on me a small heart-shaped locket.
"Thanks. It's beautiful." I smiled back him. "How'd you know where to find me?" I asked him.
"Kim told me where you guys were. She told me you were here at the normal cafe and that you waiting for her here." He explained as he gestured his hands as he was referring to the cafe near my house.
"Oh. Okay" I just smiled.
"So. Uhmm.. Where you going after?" He asked. I saw in his eyes that he wanted to come with me. Wherever I was going.
"Uhmm... I'm going to mass once Kim comes back. Today is Sunday." I gave him a look.
"Oh.. You want me to come with you?" he winked at me.
"Nope. No need. I can handle myself big guy." I told him as I was reaching for my phone since I felt a vibration. I recieved a text message from Kim. She was waiting for me at the lobby where we usually buy our favorite cupcake.
"Heyy... I gotta go. Kim's waiting for me at the lobby." I stood up from my chair, and he fastly stood up as well.
"I'll come with you." he said as he grabbed my purse, being gentleman like.
"Okay, sure." I just went to whatever he was trying to pull off.
He was there the whole time we were going to Kim at the cupcake store. He was carrying my purse. His left arm was on my shoulders. I wasn't reacting or anything. I was fine with all the touchy things he's been doing. He wanted to hug me, fine, he holds my hand, fine. But it has no meaning for me.
"Hey.. Since when did you arrive?" Kim asked Glenn.
"Uhmm... Thirty minutes ago, I guees." He looked at Kim.
As I gestured Glenn to give me back my purse, he hugged me from behind and I just smiled, but then I had to let go.
"Okay. Uhmm.. I gues I'll leave you two then?" he asked, but he was just looking at me.
"Yeah. I think you should." Kim said.
"Okay. See you around Kim." he winked at her. "See you around Cailey, I'll call you maybe, tomorrow?" He said and then he kissed my forehead after.
"Okay. Bye." I looked at him and smiled then he left.
After maybe an hour or two, Kim and I were chatting non stop. I was hapy she was there for me when no one else was. When Justin and I ended our frienship. She was there. I was so happy she's part of my life. She's my sister.
"Hey... how are you?" She asked.
"I'm fine. As always. Why would you even ask that question?" I asked her since I was confused.
"You know... With what everything's happening? Kenneth's back, Glenn's back. You and Justin?" She elaborated her "How are you?" question.
"I'm fine with Kenneth and Glenn back. Though I'm pretty sure they're both being flirtatious as fuck. But yeah, I'm not putting in any meaning to it. Justin?" my face was starting to sadened, I continued. "I see him, every Sunday, but yeah, as usual we don't talk, or even look at each other. There are times we get to have an eye contact but yeah, the eye contact gets interrupted." I stopped.
"You know today's Sunday again. You gonna go to mass?" she asked me.
"Yeah. By the way, you coming with me later?" I asked her before I took a sip from my cup of coffee.
"Yeah. Don't worry." She winked at me. "So you ready to go?" She asked.
"Yeah." As I was standing up, my hands were twitching and my eyes were starting to get blurry, so I suddenly went back to my sitting position.
"Heyy, you okay?" Kim asked with eyes widened as if she was shocked.
"Yeah, maybe I'm just stressed and too tired. I mean, I haven't been sleeping properly because of my thesis" I said. But I wasn't sure what happened. Really.
"Okay." She held my arm just in case.
------------- ONE HOUR LATER -------------
"May the Lord be with you." The priest said.
"And with your spirit." we replied back to him.
"Let us offer each other the sign of peace." He said.
We bowed down to him first, then I cheek-to-cheek kissed Kim and then looked around and greeted some close seminarians friends of mine, Justin and I made eye contact again, but he didn't smile. Then, he began to start to play one piano piece for the mass.
Fifteen minutes later, it was already time for the communion, some seminarian friends called me and told me to take the communion first, since they wanted me to sing the communion song. So I stood up and walked towards the aisle and lined up and then right after recieving the bread. I went to where the choir was positioned. My friends positioned me next to Justin, so that I can be easily heard by him and by the microphone. He was played the "Sanlibong Buhay" by Nole Cabangon and the Bukas Palad. It was a nice song. It was about the first Filipino Saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz. Anyways, as I sang, everyone whopassed me were smiling at me. Right after I sang, everyone in the church applauded. It was everyone's first time to hear a girl sing inside the seminary, maybe they were thinking about me, maybe they were judging me, but hey, I don't care. I went back to my seat where Kim and I was, she hugged at me and whispered in my ear that I did a great job I smiled back and as I looked at Justin, he was smiling but it wasn't really a smile. It was like a smirk or something.
Right after the mass ended, I took my phone out from my bag and as I turned it on, I saw six missed calls. Three from Kenneth and another three from Glenn. I was shocked even until now. Kenneth and Glenn being back and all. I was still trying to sync things in.
