We're Just Friends

CHAPTER 5: THE BEST FRIEND

 We arrived at the venue of Kim's picnic.

"Hey Cailey!" Kim ran to me and hugged me.

"Hi Kim. Happy Birthday!" I said giving her a cheek-to-cheek kiss.

"Hey, who's he?" she asked me while she pointed to Justin.

"Oh. This is Justin. He's my friend" I pulled and held his hand.

"Okay then. Justin make yourself comfortable, sit, eat, play, read. Do whatever you want. I'll just take Cailey in exchange, would that be alright with you?" She asked Justin while hugging my right arm.

"It's fine. Keep her for as long as you want. As long she's happy" Justin told KIm while he gave me a wink.

"Thanks Justin." Kim said, while I just smiled at him and gave him a look of a have-fun kind of look. Then we turned our backs from him and started walking towards the central tree.

Kim gave me a look, a look that was different. She was smiling. She gave me a suspicious look that I couldn't look in her eyes straight, instead I laughed.

"What is wrong with you Kim? You're freaking me out" I said.

"Me?! What's wrong with you?" She asked.

"Me? Why? What's wrong with me?" I asked back.

"You're different. starting from your eyes and smile. Is it Justin?

"What? No! What made you think that way?" I told her crossing my arms, but I wasn't mad.

"I just see it in your eyes. Actually, I wouldn't mind. He is charming." She asked hugging my right arm.

"He's a seminarian Kim. He's not allowed to have a girlfriend. H ehas a vocation" I told her

*Kim and I stopped walking and sat down under the tree, we saw Justin playing with Kim's brothers and sisters. Kim was the eldest, he had a two brothers, Riley was 7, Ronnie was 10. Then she has two sisters, Cassey was 11 and Sandra was 12, Kim was 16. We were the same.

"You're kidding right?" She told me.

"What?" I looked at her.

"If you're going to fall in love, you fall in love with someone who's a little older that you, or who's taken, or with someone who's courting someon else. Now this. With someone who has a vocation?1 What's next? A drug addict?" She joked.

"FALL?! INLOVE?! What?! No. Like I said, We're just friends. And no, I'm not gonna fall in love with a drug addict. Well if ever that's God's plan." I said.

"Ugh... Anyways, he's still charming. But is it right you have friends from the seminary. Try and ask them. I'm pretty sure some of them are bad boys. Hahaha but seriously ask them. Look at him." she waived at him.

She continued... "He's charming, friendly, kind, gentleman like, and the kids love him. He's like the real deal." she told me, don't waste a guy like him." she said looking at me.

"I'll ask. But still I don't want to think about this. Right now, I have to finish my thesis. We're both graduating. We're almost there Kim. Let's focus on that first. Then maybe, I can something out with Justin, if ever I will have feelings for him." I told her.

"Yey!"

"But right now, we're just good friends. Well, I think he's some sort of a best friend. But don't worry you're different Kim. You're The Best Friend." I told her as I hugged her.

We stood up and walked again back to where the party was. Justin and I had an eye contact and he walked towards me and hugged me.

"Woah there! Hahaha! You sound so tired" I saw Kim smiling and looking away. I could hear his hearbeat beating really fast. But I didn't hugged him back, I didn't want to assume anything. All I thought about was he was over joyed. I mean he had fun playing with the kids.

"I missed you" he whispered.

"Woah there again. Stop Justin." I tickled him on his left hip and I laughed away.

What did I just tell her?! I missed her?! What?! That was a wrong move Justin! ugh I'm so stupid. What is she gonna think about me now?! That I like her?! No! Well, I do like her, it's just that I still have to choose.

Anways, I wonder what she and Kim talked about. I know for sure they were talking about me. But hey.. I was playing with the kids. I kept look at Cailey for two reasons. She was beautiful and she had a look in her eye that she was confused or something. I wasn't sure, but whatever that was, I wanted to make her smile. Being sad doesn't suit her, she's jolly and active,  I can't imagine her being sad and crying. I'm her best friend and she's my best friend as well.

-------------------------- KIM'S POV ---------------------------------

I haven't seen Cailey smile like after Kenneth. She looks so happy. But then I got her all confused and thinking about Justin.

Justin's a good guy, I know he is, I mean, I could see it the way he looks at Cailey. I could see it the way he handled my brothers and sisters. They love him. They love him more than Kenneth.

Kenneth was the ex-boyfriend of Cailey. He was the captain ball of the basketball team in our school. He was kind and friendly and all but he only showed that attitude to get Cailey's attention. He liked her so much it almost killed Cailey. I know I'm over reacting but yeah, it's true.

Anyways, I like Justin for Cailey. It's just too bad their fates didn't cross though. But I'm pretty sure God has a plan for these two.

Oh Lord, please let them realized that they're destined for each other.
