A couple of months had pasted since the attack, every boy that had survived had got to work rebuilding the camp. Jake was the new leader, now that the Old Coloured Man was missing.
Jackson sat in front of Jamie's cross, holding another bouquet of flowers in his hand. He laid them down on the new bed of grass and spoke softly. "Hey, Jamie...You have no idea how things have changed" He paused, just to look up at the cross. "Jake is the new leader, his friend Theo leads beside him sometimes and-". A few tears run down his cheek as he smiled faintly, "I'm leaving soon, I-i want to follow my dream, find a new family". Jackson sniffs, wiping away a few tears. Memories rush through and out of his head as he looked down at the flowers. "I hope you'll understand- a-and I hope the others will let them leave". Jackson finally stood up, looking up the sky. laying a hand on his heart, he spoke with pride, "I'll protect, i'll fight". He looked down, "I promise"
Jake and a few boys talk within a group, Jackson heads down the path towards the camp. He dragged a stick across the ground as he whistled, soon reaching the camp. Jake noticed Jackson and waves his hand, "Hey jackie-boy! Get over here!". Jake smiled softly, Jackson jogging towards him. "Y-yeah", Jackson panted slightly looking up at his superior. Jake turned to him, "Where have you been?", he asks, concerned. Jackson blinks a few times, "Uh, Jamie's grave..I-I wanted to tell him something before I told you". Jake raises a brow, laying his hands on his hips. "What is it you want to tell me?". Jake tilted his head only slightly, Jackson taking a deep breath before speaking nervously. "I need to to leave, I-i need to find my dream, I-". Jake cut him off with a low growl, "You can't leave, you belong here with the camp". Jackson seemed frightened by his growl, "P-please I need to". Jackson looked up at him with hopeful eyes, "I want to". Jake sighed in annoyance, "Fine". He leaned towards Jackson, "But you're on your own from here". With that said, Jake walks away with Theo by his side, leaving Jackson stood staring with misery.
Jackson gently placed a glass bottle into his bag, along with some other items such as: Rope, a knife, wooden tools, a blanket and a few slices of deer meat. Jackson sniffs and whimpers as he packs, sighing in gloominess. He picks up the bag, positioning it on his back as he wanders out his tent. Heading towards the woods, he rotates his head back towards the camp. Jake and the others watch Jackson strolling off, frowns on their faces. Jake salutes him as he walks away, smiling softly. "Live your dream", Jake whispered to himself. Jackson smiled as he salutes back, walking into the forest.
Losing vision of him.
