"We're almost there," the brown ninja pug informs me, Shikamaru, Sakura and Naruto as we leap from branch to branch, closely following the dog through the dense forest. I am lagging behind everyone else. My clothes are still dirt infested from all the falls I had taken today. My anger and shame are eating me away, I still can't believe how helpless I was... I thought I was stronger than this... I can't let Sasuke see me like this, all beaten up and weak. I'm glad that my father isn't alive to see what an embarrassment I've become.
"Sasuke and Gaara are just up ahead, prepare yourselves!" The dog announces in a serious tone, making everyone put on their serious face. I notice that Naruto occasionally glances back at me. He's probably surprised to see me here considering how our last conversation went down. I get a strange feeling every time I look at Naruto now. It's hard to make eye contact with him anymore without being forced to look away from him. Am- am I scared of him? No that's impossible! I'm an Uchiha and he's a nobody! I can't let him get to me like this.
I see something! Something big, a monster! Before I have time to figure out what I'm looking at, naruto dashes ahead and kicks the big monster that
Looks like it's made out of sand. He kicks it right in the face, forcing the monster to leap away from the impact and onto a tree branch.
"Oh boy, here we go," Shikamaru lazily states as he leaps through the last tree before landing on a big tree branch that Naruto landed on and followed by Sakura. I stand back and stay hidden behind a tree, watching everyone else on the battlefield. Wait, why am I hiding? I'm usually excited to rush into battle, but now... Now I'm shaking. I don't wanna get into another situation where I need rescuing... Except now I probably look like a coward. I stay behind a tree trunk and peek my head out, trying not to get spotted.
They're all standing straight on a big tree branch, facing the big monster that's a couple of branches away, and behind them lays a familiar face. It's Sasuke! He looks really hurt though. He looks different than the last time I saw him. His bangs have gotten really long. He's also wearing a new black outfit with a popped up collar that surrounds his entire head. Sasuke is crouched down on one knee, holding one side on his neck in pain as he looks up at the people who saved his life from some big sand monster.
"Don't worry, Sasuke... Just leave everything to me now!" Naruto states confidently as the wind picks up, making everyone's hair dance along with the wind.
"N-Naruto?" Sasuke manages to utter through his pain
"Don't you mean leave everything to us?" Shikamaru questions Naruto in his always lazy tone.
"Your safe now, Sasuke," Sakura adds.
"Dammit what are you doing here!" Sasuke shouts at them. "You have to get out of here, he'll kill us all!" I gasp to myself at Sasuke's words from behind my tree, hidden from everyone else. I never would have though that Sasuke would just admit defeat like this.
"We're not going anywhere!" Naruto shouts back at Sasuke. "We came here to help you and that's what we're gonna do!"
"Speaking of we, where's Kumori?" Shikamaru asks as he looks back at my direction, almost spotting me, but I managed to hide myself behind the tree.
"Kumori?" Sasuke blurts out in surprise. "Where is she?!"
"She was following us a moment ago..." Sakura says as she gets suspicious at Sasuke's sudden surprise when he heard my name.
