"Daddy!"

Jack awoke to his son climbing on him

"Hey Johnny Happy birthday my son."

"Daddy your admiral said you have to be on the tubie thing and that it's okay for you to be here." John said

"It is called an IV and yes it is better for me. I don't need extra security if I was in the hospital I would need more security and I wouldn't be here for your birthday."

"Daddy I like you here and all of the cousins and Uncles and Aunts but I miss mommy."

"I do too buddy. It is okay to be upset. There will be days when we miss her and think about her. That is okay."

"Do you miss her daddy?"

"Yes I do I loved your mom."

"Will you meet a new wife and will she be my mommy?"

"Yes eventually I will meet someone new. How would you feel about that?"

"If you would be happy and if she was nice to me. Caroline, Bella and Josh. I wouldn't want a mean step mom like Cinderella and daddy I don't want to wear a dress like Cinderella."

"Johnny who said you have to wear a dress."

"Caroline said that I have to be Cinderella."

"No John you don't have to be Cinderella."

"I'm going to go tell Caroline that!"

"John let it go just sit here with me for a bit we can just spend some time alone without the girls."

"I like that Daddy" John said cuddling into his dads arm.

"Daddy the pole thing is gone"

"Yes I have a portable IV it's easier.

"Daddy I'm happy you're not dead. And that you're not in the hospital."

"Me too buddy."

"Daddy did you cry at all last night?"

"No. I did cry the first night your mom died. John it will be hard but we will get through. We have family around us to help out. I can always count on my brothers and sisters. When your older and now I hope you feel that way about your sisters and brother."

"Yeah even though Caroline and Bella tease me but I love them and yeah they are good."

Jack kissed John on the top of the head.

"Daddy are you crying?"

"Yes John I love you so much."

"I love you too daddy. Can I be President someday?"

"If that what you want"

"When I am. Bad people will be shot and killed"

"No John we shouldn't show violence"

"Don't you want to get mad and hurt them they killed mommy."

"No we must learn to forgive them. John I want you to hear this Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names. Always remember that."

"Okay daddy. Does that mean you forgive who killed mommy?"

"Yeah I do. John. In time we will heal and we will be okay."

"Is Uncle Bobby President?"

"No I am you know that. Uncle Bobby is my Attorney General."

"Oh right. Daddy I love you."

"I love you too. John do you mind just having a quiet birthday here at the White House. I will make it up to you and Caroline later."

"Yeah I don't mind daddy."

"You're a good boy John. You're a lot like your Uncle Bobby."

"I like Uncle Bobby is he your best friend?"

"Yes. He is my most trusted confidant."

"I trust Teddy he's my cousin right?"

"You should he is your cousin."

"Yeah I like Bobby, David, Michael, oh and JP Daddy is Chris older than Josh?"

"Yes he is one month older."

"I'm older than Teddy right?"

"Yes by one year."

"I'm older than Kyra right?"

"No she is older than you by eleven months."

"I'm older than Josh right?"

"Yes by two years."

"And Caroline and Bella are older than me right and Bella is older than Caroline right?"

"Bella and Caroline are a year apart and Caroline is four years older than you."

"So Bella is five years older than me?"

"Yes that's good son."

"I can count to ten."

"Let's see." Jack replied

John held up his fingers " 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10. I have five fingers on each hand so that is ten together."

"That's right you're very smart."

"Yeah ,I don't like Lyndon he is a jackass"

"Who told you that?" Jack asked trying not to laugh at his . three year old sons words

"You before you went to Texas I heard you tell Uncle Joe and Uncle Bobby that Lyndon was a jackass"

"I did didn't I?" Jack replied

John nodded.

"Daddy you're the best daddy ever. You love me and you aren't afraid to show people you love me."

"No, Buddy. I'm not I love you your sisters and brother. You're my little miracles you're my kids. I love all four of you." Jack said kissing the top of his head

Mrs. Shaw walked into Jack's room she spoke,"Mr. President I'm sorry he is disturbing you I will take him with me."

"Mrs. Shaw I never want you to say that again. My kids are always welcome around me they never disturb me. You can leave John with me." Jack said giving John a kiss just to prove his point he never wanted his kids to feel like they were disturbing him.

She nodded and left.

"Are you in pain?" John asked

"Not now you kids make everything better for me"

John kissed his dad on the cheek," You make my life better too daddy."

Jack hugged John close to him.

"Hi, John Happy Birthday!" Bobby said walking into Jack's room

"Hi Uncle Bobby daddy and I have been talking and Lyndon is a jackass right?"

"That he is go get dressed." Bobby told John

John hugged his father and Uncle he ran out of the room happy on his birthday.

"Bobby I love that little boy he is so much like me and you."

"He is a good kid. I have something's to do today. I can stick around here."

"Thanks. Could you go pick up John's gift at Wal-Mart it is ready for pick up."

"Okay I will send Jean."

Jack smiled he had four great kids. He really did have a great life with great siblings that he could rely on and trust. He loved his life he knew it wouldn't be easy in the months to come but he had his family to fall on.
