Emily and Draco (mainly Draco) cried all the way home. PigFarts was great, even if it was just for a day. On the other hand, Emily was so excited to practice cross country. Cross country was mandatory if you wanted to participate in Quidditch. The rocket landed near Hogwarts. The first years, prefects, and Professors got off. Draco and Emily held hands all the way to the front gate. Draco let go and ran towards a sign up sheet. Emily followed,anything Draco was doing, she was too. The list read "Cross Country".
"Sweet cinnamon roll?" Said Emily, "Why are you signing up for cross country?"
"Oh, honey bunches of oats and sugar. It's for Quidditch. I mean first years are almost never on the team but we can try?" Emily smiled and signed up as well. Professor Dumbledore announced that all classes were back on and cross country started today. Draco and Emily headed to Charms, hand and hand excited for cross country.

Classes were finished, so Draco and Emily ran to the Quidditch field. Sadly, it only seemed a few people were there. The Gyrffindor Quidditch team was complete, because of perfect Potter with his perfect scar and his prefect broom. Mainly Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws showed up, Emily and Draco were the only Slytherins, the Slytherin team was complete. Draco did not know this and thought he still had a chance.
"Run!" Shouted Madam Hooch, apparently she was the cross country coach. The group ran around the Quidditch field, Draco and Emily running together. After running for what seemed like hours, the mixed group walked back to Hogwarts. Their legs were stiff from running but they were excited. Tomorrow they missed classes to participate in a meet. Emily and Draco ran back to the Slytherin common rooms where the password was changed back to Slimy Slugs. Emily slept in her warm bed, glad to be in cross country.

All of the cross country runners ran to the carriages. Draco and Emily sat together as the invisible horses trotted away. They showed up at a meet with some Drumstrang and Beuxbatons kids. Emily stretched with Draco and made sure her muscles were loose. Then the race began, Emily and Draco ran together. They ran through the woods, passing many people. The path became rocky and they had to be more careful. Suddenly, Emily's foot slipped and she twisted her ankle. Emily fell to the cold hard ground.
"Draco go!" Emily pleaded.
"No! I got you!" Draco said, grabbing Emily into his arms. He ran, holding Emily in his arms. He finished the race and Emily was considered to come in second to him. Dumbledore announced that Draco would be awarded 50 points for outstanding moral fiber.
"Thank you all." Said Dumbledore, calling his students back to the carriages.
