Chapter 6

Surprises

Lea's Pov

..... Adam covered in blood.

In his arms was a 1 year old looking baby that was also bloody. Oh no please don't tell he killed the poor child.

"Adam," I whispered. He looked up at my sad face and looked guilty.

"What have you done?" I questioned him unsure. Jeremy still hadn't said a word yet and just that fact scared me.

"Lea it's not what you think," oh my, he was using my real name, this had to be serious then. I moved around from Jeremy and stood in front of Adam. Being this close I could see that the child was still alive, due to the fact the cute beautiful girl was staring start at me and reaching her arms out.

"I think she wants you Lea," Adam said while passing me the child. I carefully placed her on my hip and she grabbed me and held on for dear life. Anyone one could see that this was scared and wanted so comfort.

"Shhhhh its ok sweetie," I whispered while bouncing her a bit.

"Adam what the hell happened, you're covered in blood and you come in with a baby covered in blood in your arms too, I'll repeat again, what have you done?"

"Ok this is hard to explain," he paused.

"Just tell us brother before I do someone I'll regret," Jeremy spoke for the first time since Adam came in.

"Brother," he paused. He looked at me and pointed to the sofa.

"This is a sad long story so you might want to sit down," he told me. So I did as he said and moved to sit on to the sofa. I shifted the child so she was lying in my lap; she snuggled in to in body and shut her eyes.

"Ok, I was actually trying to stick to your diet dear brother therefore I went to hunting in the forest to find some fury animal to eat. However just as I was sniffing the air to find a bear or some sort of animal I smelt human blood. I thought what the hell a human would be doing in these forests so I followed the smell, that's what led me to this little ray of sunshine and her dead mother," he paused.

"So you're telling me that you just found a woman died in the forest with her child," Jeremy asked him unsure.

"I know it might be hard to believe Jeremy but its true, I wasn't the one that hurt her," he said.

"Yeah but I know your track record Adam and it's not that good," Jeremy looked at him sternly.

"You have to believe me Jeremy I've only got the blood on me from checking the poor lady was ok and for the child, she's covered in blood because the mother was holding her to her bloody chest. If you don't believe me check the child yourself. I haven't harmed her Jeremy," he finished.

For some reason I believe him. I mean the child looks ok: a bit underweight and bloody but that's it. I could tell Adam wasn't joking around either.

"I believe you," I told Adam looking at him.

"Really," he whispered.

"Of course, clearly the child is fine; I mean she's fallen asleep on me. I don't think I've seen you this sad or serious Adam. You not joking about and I believe you," I told him truthfully.

"Ok Lea has a point dear brother; this has to be the first time in a long time that you have been upset or serious over anything. So for that reason I believe you," Jeremy smiled.

"Thank you," he whispered again.

"What are we going to do about this little, surely her family is looking for her," I asked them.

"Well that's the thing Lea I don't think they had any family. I mean if you just look at this little ones clothes; all ripped and to small- her mother was the same. So it led me to believe that they are homeless and have been living in the forest. The child looks like she hasn't been feed in days," Adam stated.

"I think your right brother. That has to be the explanation to way they were in the forest and the mother

was probably attacked by an animal, the child was lucky to survive," Jeremy said.

"But what are we going to do with her?" Adam asked.

"She is staying with me, you not going to hurt her or eat her or just dump her back on the streets. If I have to stay here then so does she, I'm not leaving her," I hugged the baby protectively.

"Lea calm down its fine, we weren't going to do anything like that to her. If we were why would I have bothered bringing her home- I would have just left her with her mother," Adam told me.

"So she's staying?" I questioned, prying for a yes. They both looked at each other and smiled.

"Yes, she's staying," both said together.
