Why does he have to be so dramatic?

"Aren't you going to introduce me to your new friend?" Mom says, obviously amused.

"I am Nick, and you must be her sister." He said grabbing her hand and kissing it.

My mom giggles like a high school girl, "You are adorable" then she pretends to whisper "I'm going to trade with you, Ally. HAVE FELIX!"

"Is that how you treat me?" Okay, where did he come from? Felix walks over and kisses my mom on the cheek and wraps his arm around her waist.

"So where are you guys going?" He says ruffling my hair with his other hand. Loose end from my hair comes out of the ponytail. "I don't know, ask him." I try to smooth out my hair but it doesn't work out so I leave it. Nick leans in and tells Felix something in his ear. I try to listening but my hearing is dreadful. Felix nods his head and laughs, Nick puts up his finger to his mouth in a "Shhh" position and he turns to me. I look at him about to ask him where he is taking me until he lifts his hand. He twirls my ponytail round and let it run through his hand. I start feeling self-conscious so I look away and caught the smirk of my mom and Félix. I clear my throat and he lets go of my hair.

"Mom, can I get money?" I said looking down.

"Sure, honey. Let me get my ..."

"No need. I got it covered." Nick says winking. Mom looks at me and smirks. WHATS WITH THE SMIRKING?! I sigh and start walking out. On my way out, I hear Nick tell my mom "It was nice to meet you Miss and Felix."

"Call me Laura, Nick" My mom says quickly.

I'm walking outside and I noticed on my way inside, I didn't see a car. How exactly are we going anywhere? I look around and it looks like it's going to rain. The clouds are grey and there's wind blowing but the sun is trying to break through. Looks like the weather is confused. Probably more confused than I am.

"...so if I were you, I'll hold on tight." He says looking at me strangely.

"Wait, what?"

"Did you hear anything that I said?" He says lifting his eyebrow.

"Probably not. Was it important?" I seriously wandered off. "How exactly are we getting to this unknown place?"

He walks away like he didn't hear me. He keeps walking and turns the corner. I try to follow him but hey! I have short legs. He stops in front of a Ford Mustang GT, and he turns around.

"Are you ready?" I glance at him confused. Ready for a car?

"I've been in a car before." I walk to the passenger and try to open the door but it won't budge. I signal to open the door but he's standing there amused. I lean against the car until he's done being childish.

"You really didn't hear me at all." He then walks to the back of the car and I carefully follow him. I hope he knows I am not riding in the trunk. He takes out his keys and I really hope he's joking. "A MOTORCYCLE?!" I start shaking my head and walking back home "NO! I'm going home." Nick grabs my hand and laughs. "Stop being dramatic, you're not going to die."

"Yeah right, you would purposely throw me off." I accuse while trying to pry his fingers off. I look at him with pleading eyes and I meet his serious look. "Trust me. I wouldn't do that to you." I stop struggling and I believe him. I climb in the back and put my hand on his shoulders. I am shaking from head to toe with anxiety. He grabs them and wraps them around his torso. "Relax. Like I said, I won't let you fall." I instantly relax until he said "Unless you get annoying which you are most of the time." He revved up the engine and raced off. I tighten my arms around him and he laughs. I close my eyes, scared of so much speed and when he turns, I feel like screaming. I'm not sure if it's from excitement or fear but I never open my eyes. I feel Nick's hair getting blown back from the wind to my face and I love the feeling of his soft black hair. I stayed like this for 20 minutes until we slowed down and I felt it was safe enough to open my eyes.

We were in a semi crowded parking and all I can see was the back alley of buildings. He shut off the engine, took the keys and pulled out the kickstand. I climb off and look around puzzled. He got off and put his hand in his jean jacket and started walking up to one alley. I ran after him not saying anything at all. We walk alongside each other until he stopped in front of a sign saying "Laser Quest." What the? He walks in and I pat my hair down. The wind was blowing strong so I bet my hair is everywhere. "YOOOO! Nick." Nick high five this caramel skinned guy with curly brown hair. Like a lot of curly hair. He had a genuine smile and he had kind eyes. I immediately liked him.

"Wassup, Nathan?" Honestly, this is the first time I seen Nick happy. I can see that they knew each other for long time.

"How you been, man? I haven't seen you since..." Nathan tilt his head like he was thinking. "... yesterday." They laugh and Nick shakes his head. "I'm good, I'm here to play."

"And where's the beautiful Ms. Katie? He looks around. "Oh man, did you leave her at Walmart again?" he says panicked. He starts walking out the door until Nick grabbed him and laughed. "No, idiot. With Ally" He says pointing at me.

"Hey." I say very lamely. "Well, hello there! I'm Nathan." He says to me bowing exaggerately but then turns to Nick and gives him the jackets and gun. Nathan looks at Nick and he looks back. I feel like they're telling each other something serious. But it's over as soon as it started, Nathan laughs and waves at me and takes off. Nick walks up to me and he guides me in the jacket. He clips it on and hands me the gun. He repeats the same process on himself even though I would have gladly offered my help. Wait, what? He grabs my hand and I feel a little spark ignite. I look at our hands, intertwine never wanting to let go. We stand in the dark entry of the arena when I feel him letting go of my hand. I feel a sense of emptiness but it's probably nothing. He turns to me and pries my hair out of the hair tie so smoothly that you would think he'd done it millions of times. He hands me the hair tie and rubs his hand through my hair until it's all down. He leans towards me and whispers "Your hair is beautiful, let it breathe." He straightens up and looks forward. I'm watching Nick and I can't help but wonder. But my gaze drift to the countdown. A countdown. It's just a matter of time.
