Chapter Eleven

Nick drops me off home after a day full of laser tag and ice cream. I felt like his guard was finally gone for a moment. I can't help but to think that i'm getting through to him. I unlock the door dazed and a light flickers on. "Who's that?" Kyle says holding in his laugh. I jump and bite my tongue. It instantly starts throbbing but, i hold back the complain. "Why are you back, Kyle?

He gets up and hugs me. "Family is ready to come back, Dad's job transferred him back. You're the same crazy girl I grew up with. However, I do notice the obvious ass you have grown." I laugh and slap his arm, " HEY!" I genuinely missed him, he was just an asshole but, why come back now? "Well, i haven't seen you in years, how's your life? Any girlfriends?" I say casually. He lifts his eyebrows and smiles. "Well, Ally, you have no competition if that's what you're asking" I nervously laugh while saying " Ky, your head is as big as always."

While he shoves his hands in his pocket, he looks down at the floor ashamed." I was just want to say i'm sorry what I said before I moved. My parents told me about the move and you were my best friend so I didn't want to say bye. So, I thought if you hated me, it would hurt less. " .

" You have no idea how alone i felt, you were my only friend and I thought I was a charity case to you" my hands were getting sweaty reliving these memories. He shakes his hand and throws out his hand. " How about we make a better ending? I love your family and our time together. Truce?" I slap his hand away and he looks hurt but when my hand doubles back, he instantly gets it. We do our old handshake that resembles the one from Parent Tap with such grace that it's like we never forgot. We ended up laughing while mom and Felix walked in. "I'm glad you guys made up! Are you staying for dinner? " She says handing Felix the grocery bags. Kyle was about to answer when Eddy walks in and tackles me. Kyle starts backing up and I know that look.  I start screaming for dear life and reaching out for mom when i start feeling double the pressure. Kyle lands with a huge BLUUUUUUUURRR and i felt my soul exit my body. They finally get off me and my insides are putty. Giving Eddy a high five, Kyle declines the offer for dinner and says he has to help his mom unpack. We wave him off and I start walking upstairs until Kyle tells me to walk him out.

 We reach the front lawn and he sits down. I look around and the night sky was empty with a few stars in the sky. He puts his hand over my shoulder and he looks up. " It's been a while, Ally. You sure you can forgive me?" I lean my head against the side of his and close my eyes. I couldn't hold my anger with him anymore, his presence was just so reassuring and secure. "Of course I forgive you, I just had stupid crush but don't worry. It's gone" I smile because otherwise, I would blow my cover. He sighs and gets up. He gives me a hand and pulls a little harder than intended. I land against his chest and he looks down at me with his hair flopping down. My breath catches and I think am I really over  it? Do I not want to just kiss him?  He drives away and i'm left there thinking .

I call Ivy and I can hear the noticeable change in her voice. She's definitely been crying. My murder instincts quickly snap and I ask whats wrong? She laughs and just tries to change the subject. I get it, sometimes you need to process the pain yourself before sharing it. I try to distract her from her problems as much as I could, while walking into the house. Eddy notices my worried face and mouth you okay? I cover the phone and i say "Ivy's having a bad day." I turn to go up and Edward's face gets heavy with emotions. Of course he's worried, Ivy's like his little sister. Ivy on speaker, we talk about the recent event with Kyle and Nick and she is starting to sound like herself. "SO, you got two delicious man candies wanting you and you're talking to me?" she sighs exaggeratedly. I prop my feet against the wall while laying down, my toes wiggle with the realization. "Technically, Kyle didn't say that and Nick won't admit it."  Blowing raspberries, Ivy stays quiet for a moment. "Please tell me you didn't die from happiness." I say looking at my home screen. I hear someone else's voice and ivy screaming. I immediately get concerned, " you better be playing Ivy Marie!" I hear rustling and laughing.I'm pretty sure someone just scared her or she's finally had the psychotic break. "I'm alright, girly. I gotta go but see you tomorrow!" Before I can say bye,  she clicks. I laugh and can only imagine what she's doing. I spend the rest of the night binge-watching.

Times flies by at school, Ivy has been pretty busy. Understandable since she's on the track team. The  lunch bell rings and instead of going to the cafeteria, I walk towards the patio. I'm just in the mood for  music without being interrupted. Walking towards the bench, I catch a glimpse of someone. I turn around fully and see Nick on the phone and woah, did he look angry. I take off my earphones  and was ready to wave him over. He suddenly stops and his murderous expression was back. " Carlos, you better be glad i'm not there! The next time, you even think about getting near my family, consider yourself dead." My movements halts when I hear his voice hiss. He jumps on the motorcycle and revs up the engine. I put my earphones in quickly and think about what I just heard. What kind of secrets is Nick hiding? I'm antsy with these theories when i suddenly feel something on my shoulder. I swing my book bag and use my deadly karate chop to fend off the person. "HEY! STOP! IT'S JUST ME,CRAZY!" Ivy yells from the ground with her hair swooping to one side. 

I stop and glance at her. We both just starts dying while she fixes her hair. I relay what I just heard and can I say if everyone thought I was dramatic then, Ivy is the the Queen. " I KNEW IT! He's a mafia boss!" She snaps like she's uncover the truth. I shake my head, " it has to be more than that"  Ivy gets up and put her head on her hips. "I'm tired of boys! Let's do something fun and stress-free." Ivy is the best person to distract anyone, " Where do you want to go?" 

She smiles but that  crazy smile, and I instantly start looking for an escape route. " THE LAKE HOUSE!" The lake house has such peace and beauty, there's a clear lake with a dock that has the best spot to see the sun set. The more I think about it, the greater the idea is. "It's a plan! who are we inviting?"  She stays quiet and I look at her. No wonder, she has the meddling loo. It's obvious and I groan. 

"EVERYBODY!" She claps and I can already see what a mess this is going to be.
