Chapter eighteen: homecoming (rewritten on 12.13.2017)
"Rosie's back!"
Ariel was the first to tackle me into a bear hug and while I did stumble back, due to her strength, I wasn't expecting the whole mob of her siblings to react so quickly, and I was eventually being hugged to death by all the children. "We missed you so much!" Diggy whined loudly in my ear, "Marvin made us watch Mob Wives re-runs with him and it was torture!"
I laughed and honestly, it felt like a part of me was back and I felt at peace. Despite what happened tonight, I was glad to be back. It was weird...and I knew I shouldn't feel that way but I don't know, it just natural. I felt more at home here then at my actual home...strange, isn't?
"Yeah, and, we were so bored without you, Rosie!" Stevie inputted as he hugged my leg while the twins hugged my chest—Yvette and Diggy were hugging onto my sides as I laid flat on my back—my best friends watching with laughter.
"Oh, who are they?" Aranel gazed upwards at my best friends.
"Well, if you let me get up, I can properly introduce you all." I remarked sarcastically.
The kids all crawled off of me and I was helped up by the older twins. I smiled down at them and gave them tight hugs before turning to my best friends, "These three losers are my best friends," I gestured, "Marcos," Marcos smiled and waved, "Robin," Robin waved, "And Torie." Torie awed and cooed at the kids and Robin soon joined in.
"They're adorable." Torie exclaimed as the kids all puffed out their chests due to the three adults praising them.
"Look at these heart-breakers." Robin winked at the boys.
"Yeah, well," Diggy said running a hand through his messy hair, "I am pretty popular at school with the ladies but I'm saving myself for my soul mate."
"Soul mate?" Robin questioned with a quirked eyebrow.
"Every creature on this earth, humans included, is given a soul mate." Yvette explained as the twins tried climbing on Marcos, because that man was pretty tall. "Um, kinda like the imprinting in Twilight."
Enlightenment crossed my best friend's faces, "That's so cool." Torie mumbled with a hopeful gleam in her eyes—that girl had always been obsessed with finding the right guy to settle down with.
"Is Rosie here?!" Tay yelled from upstairs before stumbling down the stairs and freezing as she hit the bottom step. Her eyes widened and her mouth fell open. I stared at her in confusion before I followed her gaze to behind me and frowned.
Robin?
"Oh, shit." Yvette muttered with a shit-eating grin, "Tay found her mate!"
The kids all looked ecstatic and were hooting and hollering while Tay remained rooted at her spot. Marvin looked surprised as well, "Well, that's certainly a plot twist." He says with a warm chuckle before placing his hand on Robin's shoulder, "Congratulations, Miss Robin, welcome to the family."
Robin looked comically helpless.
"Holy shit, dude, did that just happen?!" Marcos looked like a fish out of water.
"W-What?" Robin squeaked before looking at me, "Why do I feel this way? What's happening?!" She looked ready to panic.
"That's, I guess, the feeling of finding your soul mate." I mused quietly feeling very happy about how this turned out. I looked Tay, because her silence was making me nervous, and she just stared at Robin with shock and fear?
