"I hate that it's always so cold here..." Silver murmured, looking around the darkened forest. "Its a nice change from the lava pits, sure, but always cold...!"

"You get used to it in a few hours..." Blaze replied, "which brings up the question... why are we in the past anyway?"

"Because something isn't right, I can feel it..."

Blaze sighed, the problem with Silver's hunches was that he was normally right. She had enough trouble keeping him safe back in their future, but in the past... they never knew what they were going to run into.

Suddenly Silver paused, and Blaze did too. "What is it?" She whispered.

"...I don't know." Silver did his best to hide the glowing of his hands, but the problem with glowing markings is that they're always somewhat visible.

Suddenly Silver yelped as a shot was fired from the trees and hit his shoulder. "Augh!"

"Silver!" Blaze's hands lit up with fire, exposing five shapes in dark clothing.
They were outnumbered. "You okay?"

"I'm fine...!" Silver replied through gritted teeth. He fought through the pain and lifted a shield around them. "Back off!"

"Your psychokinesis won't save you this time, child." A soldier sneered, then fired, and Silver gasped as the shot shattered his shield.

"No way...!" Silver shoved them back then dodged more shots. "They can deter my powers! Not even in the future have they figured that out!"

"Who are you!?" Blaze shouted. She flung balls of fire at the soldiers, making them back off.

"That is not your concern!" A soldier shouted. "But Lazainiar will have her revenge...!"

"Then why attack us!?" Silver asked. "We haven't done any-"

"Foolish child! You can't trick me with your play of oblivion!"

Blaze fired at her attackers, blocking their shots and retaliating. Suddenly she heard a shot be fired from behind, and she looked to see a sixth shooter lower his gun, and Silver fall. "SILVER!"

An all-new strength overcame her, and she scooped her friend up and took off into the trees, hoping she knew where she was going.

"Follow her!" The sixth shouted. "I won't let a Pyrokinetic-Princess steal my quarry...!"

Blaze kept running until she reached the edge of town, ducking into the secret entrance of the safehouse they'd used before. She peered out the window, hearing the soldiers go by, then she pulled Silver over to the light. "Please be okay, please be okay...!"

Silver's shoulder had a slight burn from that first shot, but his chest had been hit head on. Some of the fur was burned away, and what was still there was becoming crimson. "Oh my gosh, you're bleeding!" She whispered. "What do I do...!?"

Suddenly she gasped as someone touched her shoulder, and her hands ignited again, but she relaxed as she saw who it was. "You...!"

He bent down. "Settle down, Blaze... we're in for a long night..."
