Sonic groaned as the doorbell rang. "If that's Amy asking for a date, I swear...!" He stumbled from his bedroom, still half-asleep. "I'm coming...!"
He reached the door and unlocked it, yelping as two shapes dashed in the second it was open. "Whoa! What are you...Silver?"
The younger hedgehog was leaning on Blaze, the two looking very out of breath. How long had they been running to get over here? "What are you doing here?"

"We think you might be in trouble, Sonic..." Silver gasped. "We were attacked last night, and we think they might be coming your way."

"These guys have seriously high-tech weapons." Blaze said. "Their guns could shatter Silver's powers, and that's something not even the scientists in our time have figured out."

Sonic rubbed his chin. "Yeah...but if they attacked you, then why do you think they'll come after me?"

"After we were safe, I heard one of them say 'One down, three to go.' I don't know who the third one is, but I have a feeling you and Shadow are the other two." Blaze sighed, "They didn't want me. Just Silver."

Sonic put a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll figure this out. Do you know who they're working for?"

"S-Someone named...Lazainiar?"

"Hmm. That doesn't give us much to go on." Suddenly they heard shouts, and gunfire hitting the door. "Looks like they found us."

"If they've got weapons that work against us, then they'll probably have weapons for you too!" Silver hissed. "We have to hide!"

Sonic nodded, the three heading for the door to the basement. They shut the door then hurried down the steps then hid behind some piles of boxes. "Shh..." Sonic whispered, then the door upstairs was blown open.

"Search every room in the house!" Barked a voice. "Find him before he escapes like his brother did!"

Sonic's eyes widened, looking at Silver, whose mouth was being covered by Blaze's hand. He looked as confused as he was. Did they mean 'Brothers at Arms,' or actual 'brothers...?'

Footsteps echoed as they searched the house, throwing doors open and searching for any evidence of Sonic. There were so many, it was impossible to tell just how many there were.
"He was here recently!" Shouted a soldier, "The bed's still warm."

Sonic flinched as the door to the basement was opened. He heard movement on the stairs, and he waited to bolt if necessary.

" You think we should've taken out the princess too?" One asked. "She is the daughter of their allies, after all."

"She wants the princes, definitely," another replied. "Maybe after they're all dead, she'll have us take out their allies."

Now Sonic was really confused. If they were killing off princes, why go after him? Then again, he'd never known his parents... maybe he was a lost prince, and some relative wanted him out of the way so she could rule...

Suddenly there came loud shouts of surprise and fear from upstairs, and the soldiers down here looked around as crashes and the sounds if their comrades echoed through the floor.

Suddenly a shape appeared in the basement, quickly taking out the soldiers before looking to Sonic, Silver and Blaze. "Get up, we need to move."

Sonic blinked. "...Chaos?"

"Move it!"

Silver and Blaze brushed past Sonic. "Come on!" Blaze shouted. "We need to get out of here!"

Sonic shook out of it, then hurried after them up the stairs.
