The school year passed by in a blur. That night was the last time that I saw Damian. No matter how much I wanted to admit that I didn't love him anymore I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I knew I still loved him and always would...
And I hated it.
I wanted to forget everything about him. I wanted to forget his laugh, his voice... his kiss. But I knew that none of that was possible. I would always remember him. Even if all of it was fake for him it was real for me.
The day after he left I never saw him again for the rest of the school year. My teacher informed us that he had moved but I knew that wasn't the truth. I refused to tell anyone about what had really happened... what he really was. I just told everyone I didn't want a long distance relationship and we broke up. I don't know why I didn't tell everyone . Maybe I felt like it should be a secret and it wasn't mine to tell. I admit that I hated him on a level but I regret not asking what happened that night because for some reason I felt like he didn't tell me everything. That was my fault though because I didn't want to listen.
Today was the last day of school and I was now lying on my bed drowning my thoughts in music. I had been doing this a lot lately. I didn't like where my thoughts went so I would distract myself. I knew it wasn't healthy to keep everything bottled in but it's how I coped.
The song stopped and was about to change but I heard a strange knocking sound before the new song started. I removed my earphones and sat up. I looked out my window only to see Autumn, Lillian, Jacob, and Markus.
They had been visiting me a lot lately. I think they were worried about me. I think they knew that I was upset and at the moment they were the only people who could put a smile on my face. Being around friends made me happy and I really enjoyed their company.
"Can we come in? We brought food," Autumn greeted excitedly as everyone held up shopping bags full of stuff.
"Yeah," I said with a sad smile. "The door is already unlocked."
They all left the view of my open window and after a few seconds I heard my front door open and the chatter of all my friends.
"What's up my home nugget," Autumn questioned as she bursted through my bedroom door.
I stared at her with a confused expression but all she did was stare at me with her ecstatic brown eyes and said, "It helps if you don't question it."
I smiled at her. "So what are you guys doing here anyway?"
"We wanted to make a cake," Jacob interjected as he ran his hand through his dark brown hair.
"That's a lot of stuff for a cake."
"We wanted a really big cake."
I laughed. "Well you know where the kitchen is so go have fun."
They all made their way to the kitchen except for Markus who stood in the doorway looking at me. I scooted over on my bed and patted the space. Markus walked over and sat down next to me.
"Are you okay," he asked while turning to face me and putting his hand on my knee.
"I'm fine... I guess I'm still trying to get over..."
