Streampaw's eyes fluttered open as the sun dappled the floor of the den. She glanced around only to see that the other apprentices were still asleep. I must be up really early, she guessed. Streampaw shrugged and got up, and stretched her stiff legs. "Ugh. I'm starving." she mewed drowsily. As quietly as she could, Streampaw padded out of the den.

The camp was unusually quiet, except for a few warriors who were mumbling to one another. Streampaw made her way towards the fresh kill pile and grabbed a thrush. "Hungry aren't we?" someone mewed. Streampaw spun around to see Flowerfur standing there, her rosy ginger and white fur looked like flame and snow in the sunlight.
"Yeah, I'm really hungry." Streampaw meowed. Flowerfur nodded. "Alright then, I'll leave you to it then."

Streampaw saw something in the medicine cats eyes. She couldn't tell if it was fear or anxiety. Was it worry? Before Streampaw could ask if anything was wrong, Flowerfur was already trotting back to her den. Suddenly, Streampaw remembered the strange voice from the night before. Should I tell Flowerfur, she thought.

Streampaw knew that even if she did tell Flowerfur, she wouldn't be able to tell her what the voice had said, because she couldn't remember what it had said. "What did the voice say?" Streampaw asked herself. She felt deeply vexed that she couldn't remember what the voice had said, so Streampaw only shrugged and sat down outside the apprentices den.

Just as she finished her fresh kill, Fawnleap padded up to her. "Oh hi Fawnleap. Are we doing anything today?" Streampaw inquired eagerly. Fawnleap chuckled as said regretfully, "I'm sorry, I know you wanted to train, but I'm in charge of a patrol today." Streampaw sighed sadly. "I understand. So can I just go explore today?"

"Yes you may, just be careful." Fawnleap answered. Amusement gleamed in her eyes. Streampaw mewed farewell and watched as Fawnleap padded towards a group of warriors. That's the patrol she leading, Streampaw guessed.

She wondered what to do next. "I could go see the territory." she decided, content with her choice.

The wind blasted in Streampaw's ear's, as she strolled through the moor. The sky was a brilliant bright blue, and the birds were soaring. "I'm lucky to be a WindClan cat." she whispered to herself. Suddenly, Streampaw heard the the thin trickle of water. She padded around a like of stones and saw a small stream.

Streampaw stared at the little blue stream, and suddenly the world around her turned to shadow except the stream and the stones around it. Streampaw opened her mouth to yowl, but no sound came out. Great StarClan what's happening! Streampaw's eyes locked on to the stream. It was flowing steadily down its path. Streampaw looked to the side, and saw a large stone fall into the stream's path. But instead if the water stopping, it changed direction and flowed even faster than before.

Flowing in a course set down in her heart; one must decide whether to change the paws of fate...

"Ahhhh!" Streampaw yowled. She leapt backwards and tripped over her own paws. She felt something behind her. She flung her head around to see Flowerfur's warm amber gaze fall upon her. "Flowerfur!"

"Are you alright? I was collecting goldenrod, and I heard a yowl!" the startled medicine cat sputtered. Streampaw blinked once more. Her head was spinning. "I-I... Everything just disappeared, a-and then the rock fell into the stream and th-the voice..." Streampaw realized that she must sound ridiculous, but Flowerfur looked absolutely mystified.

Flowerfur's eyes flashed with a strange immensity as she looked up. "What did the voice say?" she mewed softly. Streampaw felt her legs begin to shake and her heart began to pound in her chest.

"It said: Flowing in a course set down in her heart; one must decide whether to change the paws of fate..."
