Chapter 2

New York City at sunset was beautiful especially that night. The sun was electrifying yellow, and the sky around it was a deep red that shaded into purple, and then into the deep blue of night. The building in the forefront with glowing lights added an eerie quality to the night. She just knew that something great was going to happen during my visit to the city, she just had this feeling.

Her best friend Ella came down here to celebrate her birthday; she was turning 21, one of the most important birthdays of all. The whole ride down they kept talking about how much fun they were going to have and about the Rangers game we were headed to see. They were playing the Caps, and you knew that was going to be a great game.

“Evy,”

“Ya Ella”

“You know, for once I’m actually excited to go see a hockey game! And the fact that we are in New York City for 5 days is even cooler,” Ella told me.

“Yeah I hear that, so much trouble to get into while we are down here. I can’t wait to create so much chaos! Or at the very least be a part of the chaos,” Evy implied.  “Look, there's our hotel. Not a moment too soon. I just need to say this, I’m sorry, but thank whatever is out there that we're getting outta this ride cause my butt is really starting to hurt.”

They went into the hotel to check in. My grandparents had gotten us a room right across the street from MSG so we wouldn’t get lost in the city. Evy was grateful for that, and the hotel suite was amazing: there were two bedrooms, a living room and an amazing bathroom. It was her dream bathroom; Jacuzzi tub, shower that fit two people, and two sinks, which was awesome because that meant enough space for us to do there makeup at the same time.

“Hey El, isn’t this place friggin’ amazing? Look out the window! MSG is right across from us so we barely have to move our lazy asses to get there,” Evy laughed.

“This place rocks my boat hardcore. Not to cut this night short or anything, but I can barely keep my eyes open. Don’t know about you, but I think it’s time for bed,” she tells me.

“Yeah I hear that, it’s time to crash, see ya in the morning girl,” Evy shouts to her as while heading to her bedroom.

Her mind was racing, she couldn’t believe she was here, and on her birthday was two days away. she thought she'd drag El to Broadway so they could see Wicked, she'd always wanted to see it. "Defying Gravity" and "For Good" are two of her favorite songs from the performance and Ishe just love the feel of going to the theater, if you will. Evy couldn’t wait for tomorrow…

* ****Next day**** *

The clouds were hanging low when Evy woke up and she had a feeling that it was going to snow, which was fine. Snow can be very beautiful. El hates it when it’s cold and when it snows, which is ironic since we go to school in the North Country, where all it does up there is snow, and if it doesn’t snow, that means its too cold for it.

Evy walked out into the living room to watch some TV, and when I flipped through the channels I found that Star Wars, Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back was on, her favorite one. She cuddled into the couch to watch it, then El comes out of her bedroom and sits by her on the couch. It takes her a minute to focus on the TV, but when she does, she laughs.

“Really? Really, you’re watching this? I hate you, I hope you know that.”

“I’m just saying, you’ve never really watched it before, so how do you know if it sucks or not? Just remember that loser,” Evy snap back at her. She sighs “Whatever”, and Evy continue to watch the movie, which as usual was epic. George Lucas is a friggin’ genius. The movie was almost over when El asked Evy if she wanted to get something to eat. Obviously she forgot whom she was talking to she’s always hungry.
