On the bus back I kept replaying what happened with Blake and his warning: I'll be watching! The thought of him watching my every move sent a chill down my spine.
I looked over at Franklin who was glaring outside the window. He was surprisingly quiet.
"Ayy Ashton!" He said still staring outside the window.
"Yes?"
"Do you think we'll ever make it to camp Zion and become true heroes? Like going on epic quests and battling true warriors?"
I paused for a minute not knowing exactly what to say. "Yea! If we work hard and become at least Class D fighters than we'll make it. I promise!" I wasn't even sure if I really believed what I just said. The truth was that trying to get into Zion was like trying to get into Harvard, according to Dennis.
*****"Rise and shine!" Max boomed busting in it our cabin. "Get up! It's time for our two mile run. All of us whined and complained but got up.
The counselors finally brought our luggage in last night after we had to keep reminding them. I changed into a plain blue T-shirt and some brown gym shorts with some hiking boots.
Each camper were gathered in the courtyard. But each still looked wary and tired. "Now we will have the two mile run called the Pico everyday to build endurance." It was still dawn and the sun was still rising casting a faint glow.Max was obvious the fitness trainer. He was wearing orange Camp Dewberry shorts that hung two inches above his knees, His blue Camp Dewberry hugged around his Upper body showing his abs.
"Where's counselor Dennis?" One camper complained.
"He's still resting!" Max boomed. "After we run the Pico, breakfast will be ready in the cafeteria! Now come on!"
*****I will never ever run the Pico again! Max made us jog non stop and he'll bark and taunt at us if we slowed down like he was a military officer.
After we finished I never been so happy to sit down. The cafeteria was made of wood and pylon. There were no central air and considering the fact we just got done running two miles in the hot summer heat made a hot and musty smell throughout the whole cafeteria.
They served us some pizza with a side of baked beans and a apple. "What kinda breakfast is?" Frank said pushing his tray away. The other kids at the table followed suit. I was too hungry to pass up the pizza. so I picked it up off the tray and slowly biting into it tasting nothing but overcooked cheese.
Dennis who was sitting at the head table with the other counselors clanked his fork loud enough for everyone to hear. "Cease all the talking!" He start to scan the cafeteria.
"Last night at Zion you all discoverd what your elemental power was." He cleared his throat. "Today we will split you into groups according to what your element is. If it's Hyrdrokinesis you will go with Josh, if it's Pyrokinesis you will go with Ruby, if it's Geokinesis you will go with Max. Since no one at our camp doesn't have Aerokinesis we don't have to worry about that! Me and Melanie will be walking around and checking on each of you to make sure you're doing good." And with that he went back to eating.
******Josh led me and about three other campers out to the camp lake. It The lake was beautiful. The blue water was sparkling in the sunlight showing glistens.
"OK, Ashton, Nicole, Janice and Susan this is Hyrdrokinesis Aura beginners class." Nicole shot her hand in the air. She was surprisingly tall about six feet and her baby face made her kinda attractive. Her long dark hair was flowing in the summer wind. The other two girls were short and lean. Each were a red head and both of their faces where decorated with freckles. But if wasn't for Susan dark blue eyes against Janice emerald green eyes some people will probably mistake them as twins.
"No questions for now!" Josh said putting a dissapointed look on Nicole face. "Now the basics for water manipulation is to feel the water moving with you!" Josh took off his shirt exposing his small chest making the girls snicker. He walked in the water but not deep enough because the water only came up to his knees. He turned around to face us.
"Remember the basics is to feel the water moving and working with you. Josh start to wave his hands back and forth towards the water. You could see ripples in the water matching Josh hand moments.
"You will feel a great energy surging through your body! That is your Aura working to move the water with you. Now you all come try!"
The girls all looked at each other afraid to take off their shirts. "Ugh! Go change in your bathing suits and make it quick!"
The girls returned in some very revealing bathing suits, showing cleavage but I didn't mind if Josh didn't say anything about it. I took off my shirt and walked in the water, the instant my foot touched the water I felt this great energy surging through my body just as Josh described it. The energy was so great that I had to stop in mid step. I could tell the girls were feeling the same thing because they stopped too.
"Ahh! I can see that your Aura is activated!" Josh laughed.
"W-What do you mean activated?" I stammered.
"Last night Wisp may have unlocked your Aura, but your Aura is useless until you activate it! You activate when you come in contact with your element in it's purest form. But your body has to touch it. I feel bad for the fire kids!"
We were finally able to move again but I could feel my Aura surging through my body. The water was lukewarm but that was good enough for me after sleeping in a hot cabin and running two miles.
"Now I want you all to raise your hands up like you're trying to touch the sky." We all raised our hands wondering what was next. Josh moved back deeper into the water. "Now try and will the water to carry you towards me!"
"WHAT?" We all screamed in unison. "How do you expect us to do that?" Janice asked.
"Relax, I'm starting you off easy. All you have to do is to clear your mind and concentrate on the water and will it to carry you."
I closed my eyes and but I didn't concentrate on the water. I concentrated on my father and how he wanted me to be so much like him and I thought about Blake's warning about how he'll be watching and waiting for me to hone my Aura. At first nothing happened but soon I could feel me getting lighter and lighter as the water pushed me up from the bottom of my feet. "That's it Ashton keep it going!" I could feel the water pushing lightly on my back like hands pushing me forward.
Without warning thoughts rushed to my mind. What if I disappoint my father, What if I do hone my ability and Blake comes after me?" The water stopped pushing me and dropped me back in the water sand.
"That was nice for a first try!" I heard a familiar voice say from behind me. I turned around and saw Dennis standing on the sand with a clipboard writing down something.
