Fanggo surged through the forest as quickly as possible. He retraced his steps and made it all the way to where he had made it out of the river. It was extremely close to there that Fanggo saw a limp and soaked body.
"No, no," he kept repeating as he stalked toward the she-wolf. He hunkered down and flipped the she-wolf on her back. He looked down and despite the hole in her throat he face was the exact same. It was still gorgeous, despite the fact that she had been killed.
Tears shown in Fanggo's eyes and he couldn't believe what had happened. He leaned forward and licked her cheek as if to apologize for what he had done. "Oh, Mildew. I can't believe that I did this. I'm so sorry!"
He then grasped her scruff after he dug a giant hole that he could bury Mildew. She didn't deserve to be picked apart by animals. He set her down in the hole gingerly before he kicked the dirt onto her body and filled the hole. Once he was finished he drew back and darted back out of the forest before anyone knew that he was gone.
However, he couldn't bring himself back to camp. He just couldn't be around Jolt right now, knowing what he did and that Jolt didn't know. He stopped and found a small cliff before he stalked up on it and lowered down. He sighed heavily and rested his head on his paws as he thought about what he was going to do.
He didn't have a lot of time since he felt something jump on his back. He growled a bit as he turned his head and realized that it was Jolt. "Got ya," he announced as he stood on Fanggo's shoulders and yipped excitedly.
Fanggo tried to smile but he just couldn't. It wasn't going to happen. "Jolt."
"You don't look that good, Fanggo," assessed Jolt as he rolled from Fanggo's back as he Fanggo sat upright.
Fanggo didn't care about he looked. He was just worried about how Jolt would look at him when this was all over. "Jolt, you know that story that told me a little while ago?"
Jolt brightened since it seemed like Fanggo might be alright after all. "Yeah!"
"Well, now I have a story to tell you," explained Fanggo in the most nonchalant voice he could.
Jolt brightened. "Really? What's it about?" He sat down and looked up expectantly at Fanggo.
Fanggo didn't know how to make this any less difficult for Jolt to hear. "It's about some wolves but mostly it's about a monster. A monster who couldn't control his anger or his rage. He was dark brown and had brown eyes and he cornered a she-wolf and a pup. The she-wolf and him wrestled for a while before they both fell into a river. They were swept downstream and when they finally woke up the wolf launched himself at her. He held her down and sunk his teeth into her neck."
Jolt rose to his paws and drew backwards with his head lowered into his shoulders. "Fanggo, stop, I don't like this story," he whimpered before he sat back down a few paces away from Fanggo and tilted his head up at him.
Fanggo peered over at Jolt with his eyes dangerously close to showing how he felt inside. He struggled not to cry since he had to try and be strong for Jolt. "Jolt, you're mother's not coming."
Tears sprang to Jolt's eyes and he looked up to Fanggo. "No." Tears quickly began to stream down his face. "No." He arched his back and darted down the cliff.
"Jolt, I swear I didn't know," called Fanggo as he darted to the edge of the cliff as he watched the pup dart through the forest. Fanggo surged after him and he looked around as he tried to find Jolt.
"Jolt," called Fanggo desperately as he trekked through the forest. He could still scent Jolt but he had no idea on how to track him. He turned his muzzle to the air and kept howling. "Jolt. I wish I could have....If there was just some way...." He shook his head madly. "I'd give anything if I could just...." He hung his head, knowing that there was nothing that he could say, nor do to bring Mildew back for Jolt.
