Ethan's pov :

This week has been... Well what's the word. Demanding. I had to tolerate been with that asshole Aiden because of this stupid project. Lola kept bugging me to tell her how I really feel about Sammy after repeating "I don't like her"  over and over again. Thelma has just  been her bitchy self constantly bruising my eyes with her chest. The worst part was Sammy was always coming in at the bad times. like yesterday at the cafeteria, out of nowhere, she sat on my lap and pushed her chest in face- literally. Before I could push her off, Sammy walked in with her lunch box, and instead of seating at our table, she would sit with Andrew at the NDT. That happened like two times now and I was freaking glad he was leaving in two days. She barely speaks to me and when she does, they're usually one or two sentences at most. I mean today she's really speaking to me and tomorrow she acts like I don't even exist. I would think that maybe after my shitty day at school, I would go home hoping to find her at home in her room or probably in her music room but no. Ever since that night at the hospital, she's hardly ever home.

"Ethan! " I heard Lola scream my name from downstairs. This was the third time today.

" what! "I asked walking up to her. She was seated with my mommy and three other ladies I didn't recognize.

" what flavor would you prefer. I keep telling mum, that it would be better to go with strawberry, but she keeps insisting on coconut." she said and at that point, I didn't know whether to scream or just walk away.

"if I get this straight, you want me to decide between strawberry and vanilla flavoring for a cake" I asked and she nodded expectantly causing me to face-palm myself.

"it's  just a stupid house-"

"language mister" my mum interrupted and I sighed.

"it's just a house Warming party, I don't think you need preparations this much. It's not a wedding."

"you know what, you can go back to your room, you're not helping one bit. Mum, well just go with both of them" Lola said and I watched them for a few seconds praying something happens tomorrow night at the stupid party.

I heard a car pull up and I went up to my room. I opened my window and spotted Sammy and her brother almost immediately. Life saver. Maybe she wouldn't be too busy to hang out today.  I waited for a few minutes before texting her.

"hey are you free? - E

"who's this?- S

"it's Ethan, come to the window for a bit- E. I could make out her petite figure moving towards the window side. She opened her window and sent me a weak smile. She looked exhausted, her eyes looked like they hadn't closed for days and her shoulders were slumped.

"hey" she said. Her voice was croaked and husky in a way.

"what's up, you've been a little bit scarce lately". I  asked and she shrugged.

"nothing" she said.

"nothing?, your eyes look like they haven't closed for days, your face is pale, and it looks like you haven't been eating too. " I said and she sighed.

" I've been in the hospital for a while." she said and I raised a brow.

"are you sick somewhere? " I asked and she shook her head.

" no, my dad... Never mind, what are you doing all alone" she brush off the conversation, smiling widely at me, I knew it was forced but I didn't pressure her into telling me.

"am bored to death, Lola keeps bothering me to help with the decorations for the house Warming, like asking me if I would prefer strawberry or coconut flavoring for the cake. She's totally driving me nuts, and my mum isn't helping either. You should be lucky you don't have a mom" I said then opened my eyes after realizing what I had said. "am so sorry Sammy, I didn't mean to-"  I started but she cut me off.
