"I don't understand either" she said and lola's grip on my hand loosened. I looked up at her and her eyes were already glassy.
"what do you mean doctor" I said and she gestured towards the paper.
"this has never happened at this hospital before, I mean I've heard of it. It's an impossible possibility, there only a 99% chance of that happening between distant relatives, but you are not even related to the patient in any way. I don't ... " she blabbed on. Lola slammed her hand on her desk when she couldn't wait any longer.
" will you please get to the point." lola yelled almost destroying my ear drums.
"it's positive, you're a match for the transplant". Say what!.
"you mean... "I started, but I wasn't able to complete it.
" congratulations. The surgery can hold between now and next weekend. " she said. I didn't notice that Lola had called her mom, and the next thing I knew, she was standing in the doctor's office with a big smile on her face. She pulled me into a bone crushing hug, and after a while I hugged her back. We made necessary arrangements and scheduled the surgery for Saturday. It was Tuesday, meaning I had three days to convince Liam to let me do it.
"am home" I announced as I walked into the kitchen. Liam was mixing something in a bowl shirtless.
"you know, I might decide to bring a friend home one day, and I will not have them ogling over your tabbed six pack" I said and he shrugged.
"you can't blame me can you? " he said and I laughed then took my seat on the counter.
"you're a bit late" he said kissing my cheek. Well sorry Liam, but am going to drop the bomb.
" I took the test, and it was positive" I said and he shot me a look of confusion.
"positive,... Oh My God Sam, you're pregnant! God how could you do this. What the hell were you thinking. You weren't even supposed to have a boyfriend, you're still too young. Who's the father, does he know, did he accept it or do I need to make him, did he-" I cut him off immediately. God how could he think any of that.
"no Liam, not that kind of test. I mean the test for... Ethan's transplant, and I'm a match." the expression on his face changed from shock to anger. Here we go.
"I thought I made myself clear when I said you weren't allowed to take that test. " he said trying to be calm.
" you did, but I just had to do it. I know I disobeyed, but I had good reasons for doing so. Liam, am his only hope with or without your permission, am going to do it. You cannot expect me to sit and do nothing while am best friend's brother is about to leave her." I said and he was quite for a while.
"when is the operation? " he asked after about five minutes of silence.
" we fixed it for Saturday, why? Are you letting me do it?" I asked jokingly, but when his expression didn't change, my eyes widened.
"really?, like really really" I asked and he nodded his head slowly. I jumped from my seat and into his arms. I kissed both cheeks in excitement. I didn't really think he'd let me.
"thank you Liam," I said and he twirled me around then placed me back on my seat.
"you're welcome. Stuff yourself" he said handing me a plate of his specialty.
*Saturday morning *...
The violent roaring of my alarm clock sent me tumbling from the bed in fright. I dragged myself out of bed lazily and used my window for support. It was raining heavily outside, which was a good sign. I stared out the window into ethan's room, and I couldn't help but smile at the fact that he'll be out of the hospital and I'll be able to see him again real soon. I spent about thirty minutes checking my Facebook until I remembered I had to get to the hospital soon. I took a quick shower washed my hair and dried it then started straightening it then paused midway. Wait! What's the use doing my hair if it's still going to end up being shoved in a hair net. I hurried through my clothes and picked out a pair of leggings and a fringe top. I wore a pair of flats and shoved my necessary items into my purse and headed out. Then the weirdest thing happened. I pulled at the knob, but they didn't budge. My keys were missing too. I looked for the spare but remembered I left them in the store. Goddammit I was locked in. Who the hell could have - Liam. I knew he was being casual with this whole thing. There was a note under the door. I pulled it out and read the content.
