The first day of fall was approaching. You decided to visit a staple of your childhood. The lake, a lake you visited with your best friend Seokmin. You two would always meet there when you had family problems or problems in general. He was your happiness. He was stability.
As you stood in front of the lake you breathed in the fresh air. As you embraced the nature around you, you felt a hand land on your shoulder. You gasped causing you to trip forward. The large hands grabbed your waist just in time. You were spun around to meet a familiar face.
It was Seokmin. You thought he left. You thought he left you behind. You remembered the fun past you had. You remembered all of the late night talks. You remember him telling you "I'm afraid my dreams are too big for this city." You remember the tears and the repetitive goodbyes. It was all to much to take in but he was here now. It was something that made you want to fall apart all over again. It was something that made you want to run away. You knew he wasn't here to stay. Like he sad, his dream are to big for this city.
"Hey little one." Seokmin said with a faint smile. You chuckled slightly in relief. Little one was the nickname Seokmin gave you. You took a small step back while being reminded of your past with him. "You came back." You spoke softly into the cool air. Seokmin took a step forward causing leaves to crunch under his feet. "I've tried so many times to dismiss my thoughts and fond memories of what we shared. It won't work. I had to see you." You sunk your face into your hands. "You can't do this to me." You shook your head and walked closer to the lake. "What? What can't I do?" He strengthen the tone of his voice. "You can't leave me when things get good again. So I won't let things get better. I won't let you get too close this time." You watched as tears brimmed his eyes at your true words.
His voice became shaky and deep. "I didn't want it to be that way. You knew you were my everything!" He tried to grab your arm. You instantly moved away, loosing your balance. You weren't able to gain your composure. You gasped as you fell backwards into the lake. As your body sunk into the cold water you grew angrier. You closed your eyes as your bottom hit the lake's ground.
You stood up in the shallow lake and huffed. As you climbed out with the help you Seokmin you began to shake. As your fingers began to tremble, Seokmin took his jacket off. He rapped it around you and pulled you into him. The warmth of his warm body against your freezing one caused you to sigh. "Why do you constantly run from me anyway?" He chuckled while rubbing small circles in your back under the jacket. You smirked and sunk your head into his shoulder. "I-I jus-" you trailed off and was held captive in the scent of his cologne.
Once you realized what was happening you backed away from him swiftly. Seokmin sighed seeing that it was impossible to reason with you. "I came back for you, and you don't even let me hold you?" Seokmin dropped his hands to his side. "It's too familiar." You shook your head and took his jacket off of your shoulders. "For gods sake I'm not going to leave you!" Seokmin yelled causing your eyes to widen.
He walked away slowly. He sat at the edge of the dock with swinging legs. You contemplated talking to him. You knew you were stubborn, but you were a sucker for second chances. You slowly approached Seokmin's sulky frame at the end of the deck. You sat next to him with his jacket in hand. "You'll never let me live this down, will you?" He asked as he looked forward into the foggy air. You huffed and peered over at him. "Would you?" You asked with sadness and anger fighting for dominance over your voice.
"Yes, because if you wanted to follow your dreams. I would have been in total support of that. I would at least TRY to understand." He spoke quickly after you asked him. You instantly got up and walked back to the land. He followed after you, waiting for a response. "You see there's nothing to say because I'm right!" He added as you turned around to face him.
"I've wanted nothing but to be happy with my life. I had you and I wanted the ideal job. Now I'm back and you said you'd wait. I'm back." He spoke in a deep tone. "And I waited." You said with crossed arms. Seokmin nodded and admired your disposition. You batted your eyes with a slight smirk on your face. Even with wet hair and clothes you were able to make him fall for you.
"You're driving me wild." He said while running a hand through his hair. "Come here." He said as you stared at the ground. You took a couple steps forward. "I'm here to stay." He said inches away from your face. You felt his breath hit your lips. "You promise?" Your voice changed frequencies as you stared at his lips. Seokmin cupped the back of your neck, pulling you forward. As your lips touched, the coldness of the air went away.
You forgot of the wicked past of his absence. You forgot about all of the sleepless nights. Everything was perfect in this moment. Seokmin moved his hand to your waste. As you two stopped he pulled you into a hug. You smiled as you buried your face in his neck. Suddenly the past didn't matter.
