~CHAPTER 9~

I was on my way home with Mckenna from shopping. I got Brown boots with a little bit of a heel and straps and buckles wrapped around the ankle, and a pink hand purse the same pink as the dress with the same flower. Mckenna and I kept talking about the dance and how exciting it will be.

After a while Mckenna pulled into my drive way and helped me carry the bags into the house. I was so happy there were only two more days till the dance! When Mckenna and I walked in the house my mom was sitting at the kitchen table with a letter on the table and her fingers rubbing her temples.

"Hey mom, Mckenna and I went shopping for a school dance this Friday and I bought the cutest outfit!" I said setting my bags in the kitchen. "What's that you got there?" I asked sitting next to my mom and looking at the note.

"um... Melody, you..." My mom said looking upset. I began to frown then I saw my mom smirk. "You just received a scholarship to an acting school in LA in America!" My mom said handing me the note. A huge smile crossed my face and I began to jump up and down.

"No way!!!" I said looking at Mckenna. The both of us began to jump up and down, screaming.

"Oh Melody I'm so happy for you!" Mckenna said smiling.

"They bought your ticket to America, and your flight leaves at 4:00 pm this Saturday." My mom said smiling.

"Wait what?" I said looking at my mom confused. "You mean it's not ckennahere in England?"

"It's in America sweetheart." My mom said.

"That would mean leaving my friends, and family her in Holmes Chapel!" I said frowning.

"Well you don't have to go." Mckenna said putting an arm around my shoulder. I sat down and began rubbing my temples.

"I know it's just... this could help start my acting career." I said a little disappointed.

"Well you have a few days to think about it Sweety." My mom said rubbing my back. She then got up and got a cup of tea.

I sighed. "It's alright it you wanna go Melody, I understand." Mckenna said trying to comfort me.

"I know it's just a hard decision." I said. "What about my friends and family..." I said. "What about Harry?" I whispered to Mckenna.

"Him and your other friends will understand." Mckenna said with a tear escaping her eye. "But you don't have to go, although I would." Mckenna said trying to smile but it didn't work, she just began to cry even more.

"Mckenna stop crying! You're gonna make me start to cry too!" I said wiping the few tears that managed to escape my eyes.

"Sorry, I just keep thinking about my life without you. It's not easy you know." Mckenna said wiping her tears.

"I cant imagine you in my life either. Thank you!" I said hugging her.

"No prob!" She said smiling. I smiled back and stared back at my note.

I clenched my fists, looked to Mckenna, and sighed. "I made my decision!" I said taking a deep breath. "I... I am going!"
