CHAPTER 8

~CHAPTER 8~ 

Hey Melody, open up!" Mckenna said knocking on my bedroom window. My bedroom was two stories high, so Mckenna was standing on a latter.

"What do you want? I was working on homework." I said opening the window to let Mckenna in. McKenna and I always enter our houses from the window. We used to do it as kids, and when one of us was in trouble we would sneak in through the bedroom window and hang out in our room.

"Well I thought we could pick out a dress for you, you know with the dance coming up!" McKenna said climbing into my room.

"It's just a dance with Harry, McKenna." I said.

"Yeah that's what Vanessa Reede said, and you know what happened? She lost her virginity Melody! Her virginity!!! That could happen to you!"

I smirked. "Unlike Vanessa Reede Mckenna, I'm not a slut if you haven't noticed."

"Well I'm just saying." McKenna said.

I sighed. "Fine. Once I'm done with my math." I said sitting down at my desk. I could feel Mckenna's breath on the back of my neck and I spun around. "Um... do you mind?" I said feeling rushed.

"Oh no, take your time!" Mckenna said and let me work, but only for a few seconds. "So you done yet?"

"McKenna, if you don't let me work on my homework I will not go shopping with you!" I said irritated.

"Ok ok hurry up though!" She said sitting on my bed.

"Thank you!" I whispered to myself and went back to work. I only had a few math problems left. After about five minutes later I finished and got up from my seat.

"Finally! let's go!" Mckenna said grabbing my wrist and rushed me downstairs and out the door to her car.

"Wow, you seem more excited about this dance then I am!" I said buckling up.

"Um have you even met the guy you're going with!? He is one of the most popular guys in our school, the best male singer in our school, One of the funniest guys in our school, and he is the absolute hottest guys in our school! Earth to Melody!" Mckenna said backing out of my drive way. "You have to wear the most beautiful dress in the world for this dance!"

I laughed. "He's not that hot!" I chuckled. "He's just a good friend and I'm sure that's what we're going to the dance as, FRIENDS!"

"You don't get it do you Melody?" McKenna said driving to the strip mall we always go to.

"We are just friends McKenna, and I'm sure that's all we will ever be." I said turning up the radio.

"Melody after this dance he could become your boyfriend, YOUR BOYFRIEND MELODY!!! Isn't that what you want?" McKenna said.

"Yeah but... a guy like him would never like me." I said feeling really sad. "He is too good looking, and talented then I."

"What that's crazy! If anything you're too good for him!" McKenna said cheering me up. I smirked and rolled my eyes and just listened to the radio. After a while we parked at the strip mall, and one store had beautiful dresses in the window. "Well let's go Melody!" McKenna said stepping out of the car. 

We walked into the store with the dresses in the window, and the dresses were pretty impressive. McKenna grabbed my arm and pulled me to a part of the store filled with dresses for prom, and school dances. "Ok so what color under shirt or tie will Harry be wearing!" McKenna asked me examining each dress.

" I don't know." I said watching her and feeling stupid.

"How do you not know!" McKenna said sounding astonished. I just looked at her and shrugged. She sighed and pulled out her phone and called Harry. She put him on speaker because I could hear it ringing and she held the phone out so we could both talk. Just as I thought he wouldn't answer I heard a voice.

"Hello?"

"Hey Harry, it's Mckenna and Melody." McKenna said.

"Oh! Hey Melody!" Harry said sounding happy.

"Hi." I said blushing.

"So Harry, we wondering what color your vest and tie are that you are going to be wearing at the dance." McKenna told Harry.

"Oh, well I was planning on wearing a pink under shirt and grey blazer along with some black jeans and my white tennis shoes. Why?"Harry said through the phone.

"Oh we were just wondering!" Mckenna said smiling.

"Ok then. Later McKenna and Melody." Harry said.

"Thanks, bye." McKenna said hanging up. "Ok pink it is! McKenna said smiling. I rolled my eyes and began looking at dresses with McKenna. I didn't see any dresses I liked that were my size, but then I saw the most beautiful dress in my life. I pulled it off the rack and ran into the changing room. The dress was light pink and strapless with silver sequins on the top with a flower with pink petals and a silver middle on the flower above the left breast, a lace bottom that is long in back and short in front, and a little brown belt around the waist. It fitted me perfectly and I looked in the mirror. I put my hair down and I thought that this was the best looking I've ever been in my life. I was so happy I began to giggle until I heard pounding on the door.

"Melody, you ready to show me?" McKenna said pounding on the door.

"Oh yes!" I said unlocking the door. I bursted through the door twirling around. "I absolutely love love LOVE it!!!" I said posing and looking in the mirror.

"Well pink is definitely your color!" McKenna said smiling. "The dress is so you! Now lets find some shoes and a hand purse to match." McKenna said grabbing my wrist and pulled me by the shoes section. I smiled and my heart was beating fast. I couldn't wait to see Harry picking me up for the dance and be astonished at how beautiful I will look. I couldn't wait to see how handsome he will look.
