~Vincent's pov~

I stare Shredder in the eye. The man that ruined everything and suddenly all I see is red. I feel my feet run faster than I have ever before and my arms move stronger than they have before. I feel Hitomi's presence but I am not entirely sure what it is I am doing, I only know for sure that the red I see now isn't rage, but blood. I can't tell who's blood, but it's blood.

I feel myself flying away, then hitting something and getting up. I hear screaming but I'm not sure who's. Maybe it's mine? Then running. I know I need to get control of myself but something is telling me if I do I'll lose. So I let the rage flow through my veins. Then I can see again.

"I have taught you well, Vincent. Landing hits like that." Slurred words, low voice. He's slow, wobbly. Bleeding. "But I haven't taught you everything." as he strides towards me, Hitomi jumps on his back and stabs the skin that is left exposed, as many times as she can. More yelling, I know it's him.

I jump up too, gripping my knife, a slash at him, but even with so much blood loss he's faster than me. "Slow him down!" I yell.

Hitomi does her best but I know she won't last long. I pounce, with her on him he's just slow enough for me to land another hit. Hitomi jumps off of him as I back away, warmth on my hand, but I can't focus on that right now. Shredder comes at me, I didn't hurt him enough, I didn't do it. In a split second, I'm pinned to the floor, metal pressed to my throat.

"Get. Off of him." a growl, a flash of blue silver and green, and I'm free. I get up, finally I see what's around me, Leo on top of Shredder, blood everywhere. Hitomi watching, waiting for the right second to help, Raph on the floor. It all snaps back, it all hits me too hard that I'm bleeding too, that Hitomi is covered in cuts, that Leo is worse. That Raph... I hope she hasn't noticed him yet. Standing now, I join the struggle to keep Shredder down. Hitomi on one side while I am on the other. Leo removes Shredder's chest plate and glares.

"Any last fucking words?" Leo pulls his katana to the heart death and instead of wrods, he spits blood. Leo stands, putting all of his body into one last blow to one last enemy. Just like that, everything is done.

"Mom. Mom sit down you're losing so much blood!" Hitomi cries out, her attention focused now as the threats are gone. Finally gone. I pay no attention to it, somehow the words don't process until he falls, hard. "Mom!"

Just like the blood spilling from the mouth of Shredder, red falls from the mouth of Leonardo. The one I refused to call family.

"Leo no!" I'm at his side now, I do my best to stop what bleeding I can see but there's so many wounds.

"Stop. Stop." he coughs more, it pushes everything out of him. "He's gone... Told you I could do it."

"Leo please don't do this, please don't die. I'm so sorry for what I said I'm so sorry. Please." the pain in my chest is worse than a thousand stabs, I know he's slipping away. I know there's nothing I can do but I need him to stay.

"I'm sorry I lost you. I'm sorry." He gurgles out, then rolls onto his side and the waterfall of crimson spills to the floor.

"No. No stop it. Don't apologize." I cry out. He looks at Hitomi, who is already crying.

"Don't cry, please don't cry. I love you." more painful speaking, his voice getting drier.

"Mom. Please, don't go. I can't lose you too." She begs, but I can hear it in her voice, she knows this is it just as well as we do. She knows this is it.

~No one's pov~

"Please, just promise me something..." Leo said to them, his voice scratchy dry and strained.

"Anything." Hitomi says holding his blood stained hand,

"Just name it." Vincent says clutching the other, tears staining both their faces now.

"Promise me..." Leo starts, his breath shallowing "Remember us." he says his small, forced smile relaxing and his hands going limp in theirs.

"Leo? Leo please!" Vincent shook his hand sobbing in a desperate, hopeless etempt to wake him up.

"Mommy, please wake up. Don't do this, please, we love you, both of us don't leave!" Hitomi shouts not daring to glance at the body of her father, fearing the sight. Leo releases his last breath and let's his eyes close. His children crying hard, "I promise mom." she says and lightly kisses his cheek. "I will." She promises and let's his hand go, getting up to promise the same to her father.

"I promise." Vincent whispers and hugs his mother. "I could never forget..... Mom." He let's the corpse go and wipes a single tear from his face. He stands and goes next to Hitomi. "I promise... Dad." He nods, his lip trembling and hugs the cold body. They hear footsteps outside the door from the few left of the foot clan and stand quickly. "Hitomi we have to go." he says still staring at his parents, she nods and they jump through the hole they made coming in. Crying the entire way back to the lair.

Hitomi's pov.

We walk in the entrance. My home, broken, cold, empty. There isn't anyone left to keep it warm or happy. Besides us. Vincent and I, we can't leave and I know it now more than ever. We have to keep our promises, we just have to.

I look at Vincent and I know he's thinking the same as I am because I can read his lips as he whispers one sentence...

I promise mom, I promise dad, we will never forget.
