Recap -
Ammon brushed away his damp hair from his face, trying to see through the heavy rain that blurred his vision. Another flash of lightning struck nearby, and a bloodcurdling scream sliced through the air, stopping Ammon dead in his tracks. Startled crows instantly fly away in fright, disappearing in the rain.It was a horrific shriek that Ammon would never forget.
End of Recap-Ammon felt his test tighten in fear, and it took a few seconds for him to register the horrific sound he had heard. Still holding onto Ruby's arm, he began running towards the scream even though his mind desperately begged for him to turn around. His shoes squelched noisily as he ran through the pouring rain, sending waves of water in all directions. Squinting his eyes through the downpour of water, Ammon saw a blurry crowd of people gathering around. Teachers appeared to be flustered, running around trying to calm the students down. He finally reached the crowd, soaking in the rain from head to toe. A few people were holding umbrellas, and being tall, Ammon had to step back to avoid his eye being poked out. A bundle of blonde curls suddenly bumped into him, and Ammon quickly grabbed the energetic blur. "Ammon!" Kyle said surprised, his eyes filled with worry and shock. "What the hell is going on? Who was screaming?" Kyle was trembling, and it made Ammon feel uncomfortable and even more concerned. A teacher with a serious face was talking on the phone when he bumped into Ammon, pushing him into Kyle. He didn't like the grave and solemn look on the teacher's stone face. Ammon stared at the teacher as he walked away, but quickly snapped his head towards Kyle as three, shattering words came out of his mouth.
"It was Fiona."Kyle was out of breath and his eyes darted around like a frightened rabbit. His damp hair was matted from the heavy rain.Usually, Kyle would be fussing over is like a newborn baby, but the situation was frantic and serious. "She had a massive fight with Luana, and stormed of the class. She was then struck by lightning." Ammon felt as if his brain was going to explode. Too much had happened in the past few days and it was making him go crazy. Something was strange about what Kyle told Ammon. Fiona, the queen of drama, getting into fights wasn't uncommon. She has a bone to pick with everyone, and being the popular snob she is, it isn't hard to start an argument with her. However, the fight was with Luana, and Luana doesn't talk to anyone or gets into anyone's business. Whenever attention is turned her way, Luana shyly backs away and tries not to get involved. There is nothing to fight with her about either, nothing that would get so bad that Fiona would storm out of the class like that anyway. To make it even more confusing for Ammon, this all had happened seconds after Ruby and him decided her to be a 'suspect.' Why is all of this happening all of a sudden? "What was the fight about? How did it even start?" Ammon stood on his toes to try and peek over the jumble of students and teachers surrounding Fiona, but he was too far away and the rain didn't help his vision. "I only know what Brody has been telling everyone. I'm not sure how accurate it is,knowing Brody it may be exaggerated." Kyle pushed back his hair and took in a deep breath. "You know how Luana is always writing in her book?" Ammon nodded knowingly. "Fiona was randomly walking around the class, and when she passed Luana, Fiona glanced at her book, but she quickly closed it. Fiona suddenly got curious and asked what Luana was doing. Luana was uncomfortable and she told Fiona that she didn't want to open her book. Fiona quickly snatched it and started flipping through the pages, but Luana instantly jumped up and tried to get it off her." Kyle paused and pulled Ammon away from the bustling crowd, heading towards the closest shelter a few metres away. Sirens pierced the air and soon ambulances were driving towards the scene. Ammon found it hard to sink everything in. It was incredibly rude of Fiona to go into Luana's personal space, but she wouldn't electrocute her with lightening, would she? Hold up Ammon. Do you hear yourself?Spending too much time with Ruby is making you go mad. Luana didn't create the storm. That's absolutely ridiculous. "What next?" Ammon asked impatiently as he wringed his shirt. Water dripped freely from the soaking cloth and fell in large droplets to the concrete. "As you know, Fiona is taller than Luana, so all she did was hold it up in the air, smirking as Luana tried to reach it. Luana looked really anxious and desperate to get it back, so of course Fiona was even more determined to look at what was inside." Ammon tried to imagine the dark-haired girl harming someone. He was slightly intimidated by her serious glare, and her straight face often looked angry or like she was in deep concentration, but he didn't see her as a bad person. She didn't have the friendliest face, but she didn't have an aggressive one either. "Most kids were apparently not paying attention, since you lucky ducks got free time in history, so it was only now that kids started watching. Luana was begging for Fiona to give it back but she just turned around with the open book in her hands and laughed. Fiona casually flipped the pages while Luana jumped around, knocking some desks and chairs, until she finally had enough." Kyle gave Ammon an intense stare as he stressed the last word.
"Enough?"
"Yep, she finally had enough. The girl just snapped. Can barely imagine it myself. Such a discreet, composed girl. Not one to create a scene. I don't know what crazy teacher you have, because he didn't seem to have done anything to have stopped this all."
"Kyle, stay on track. He could've gone to get textbooks about the human body or something. Anyway, just continue." Kyle gave Ammon a quizzed look at the mention of the human body textbooks, but continued. "Where was I? Oh yeah, Luana just snapped. Apparently she went rage. Yelled at her to give it back, grabbed a handful of Fiona's hair and pulled hard. Fiona tripped on a chair and fell to the floor. The whole class was shocked. I can imagine a few gasps and mocking oooo's." Ammon winced, knowing that Luana's move was a very bad one.Making Fiona angry, or humiliating her in front of a crowd was asking for some trouble. "Luana started walking away with her book but Fiona stood up and started yelling nasty stuff at her. I don't know what Luana said back, but was enough to make Fiona's face boil with rage and send her storming out the classroom. Few seconds later, crash. Sounds really bad, huh?" Kyle paused and his eyes drifted to the busy crowd behind Ammon. Turning around to watch the scene, Ammon drew a deep and shaky breath, taking in the scary and serious situation. The eerie silence settled around the two boys as they stared at the unfolding scene. Paramedics in fluoro yellow raincoats draped a ghostly white cloth over a lump on the ground. Fiona. The blood in Ammon veins run cold as he gazed at the unmoving bump. How did this all happen so fast? The blurred people moved around like a nest of swarming ants. Lifting Fiona's covered body onto a stretcher, two paramedics put her into the back of an ambulance. The last thing Ammon saw of her was a torn and shredded shoe, poking out of the white sheets. "Wonder what she said to tick Fiona off." Kyle mumbled softly to himself, his eyes fixed to the ambulance in a trance like stare. Ammon could see the blue and red lights bouncing off the reflection in Kyle's glassy eyes.
"Your eyebrows look so fake? All the makeup in the world can't possibly hide your ugly personality? I couldn't care less about what Luana said. I want to know what Luana was hiding in her book, whether Fiona getting struck by lightning was a crazy incident," Ammon breathed slowly before saying softly,"and of course, if Fiona will live."
