Yugi prowls the living room like a caged tiger. He and I aren't even in the same room and I can already predict his expression. A light laugh escapes me as I tuck in my shirt. My black button down shirt melding into my dark dress pants that I chose specifically for this occasion.
/"Yami what are you doing up there?"/ yugi asks irritably through the link. /"You have been up there for the past three hours."/
/"Little one, patience is a virtue."/ I reply teasingly. I can hear his muffled huff of indignation carry up the stairs and through the shut door.
/"Can you please tell me what is going on?"/ I smile as I pick up my necessary item and conceal it from view within my dress jacket. I take the steps two at a time as I rush down to the living room where yugi is waiting for me. His eyes widen in shock when he sees me.
"You will understand in a moment." I say with a grin. Yugi just continues to gawk at me as I stride into the room.
"I'm so underdressed." Yugi mumbles quietly as he glances down at his plain gray dress shirt and black dress pants. "You look so..."
/"So what?"/
/"So beautiful."/ my grin only grows from his words.
"You're stealing my lines Aibou." I tease as I stride over to him. My fingers smoothly tucking one of his electric bangs behind his ears. "You look perfect, don't change a thing." Yugi blushes under my attention but remains silent. I can't help but smile as I plant a gentle kiss on his forehead.
There is a small flash of light and I blink in confusion. Yugi's eyes widen in embarrassment as he whirls to look at his grandfather. Solomon is hovering in the doorway with a camera in hand and a victorious grin on his face. I would have laughed if it weren't for the painful embarrassment stinging through the bond from Yugi.
"Solomon." I say warningly.
"Sorry you two, I couldn't help it...I at least wanted one good picture of you two."
Yugi remains silent as he turns away from his grandfather. His face glowing a bright crimson that makes him look even more endearing. I put a gentle arm around his shoulders and steer him towards the door.
"Good evening Solomon." I say with a smile. Solomon smiles brightly at me as he places the camera on the table.
"Have a wonderful evening you two." He says looking directly at me. I simply nod in return as I usher Yugi out the door and into the cool night air. Our only companions being the millions of stars glowing in the sky and the dozens of fireflies floating by.Yugi's hand warms mine as we walk down the deserted street. The heat from his body radiating into mine. His endearing amethyst eyes glittering in the starlight is breathtaking. I have to keep reminding myself to breath.
"Yami," he says gently. "Where are we going?"
"That's a surprise." I say with a smile. Yugi pouts adorably beside me. I struggle to restrain my laughter at the adorable sight. "Don't worry, it's a good surprise...who knows you might even cry." I tease lightly.
"I won't cry." He mumbles irritably. I smile as I squeeze his hand gently. He smiles back at me as he returns the gesture. "Are we almost there?"
"We're actually here." I say with a smile as we round another corner. A broad smile glows on Yugi's face as he takes in the sight of the carnival. Hundreds of flashing lights greet us as we approach. The hundreds of colors reflecting on the calm surface of the lake. Memories of kissing Yugi in the middle of the lake float to the forefront of my mind as we walk towards the carnival.
Yugi's excitement buzzes through me like electricity. With every step towards the carnival his heart beats just a little bit faster.
"Do you like the first part of the surprise?" I ask gently.
"I love it!" He says with pure childish glee, before blinking in confusion. "Wait first part? There's more?" I chuckle slightly.
"There are two more surprises after this." I say coyly. "But for now let's enjoy the carnival." Yugi frowns for a moment before grinning from ear to ear and dragging me into the center of the carnival. I can't help but laugh as his excitement begins to consume me infecting me with its vigor. The sweet scent of fresh funnel cakes floats on the air as we wander through the assortment of attractions.
Yugi releases my hand and rushes to a stall filled to the brim with stuffed prizes in the shape of duel monsters. I smile fondly as I walk over watching my Yugi talk avidly to the man behind the counter. The man smiles at Yugi and hands him a water gun.
"To win one of these prizes you need to pop all of these balloons within the time limit." The man instructs with a booming voice. I wince slightly at the sheer volume of his voice but remain by Yugi's side. He smiles determinedly as he sits at the counter staring seriously at the targets. I struggle to contain my laughter at the serious expression on his face. It just looks so out of place on his face.
The platform holding the balloons begins to spin quickly making it difficult for me to follow the movements. All of the colors blurring together into one giant swirl of color. It makes my head hurt just from looking at it, but Yugi's eyes never stray. He shoots surely and seriously as the seconds begin to tick down. The loud sounds of popping balloons sound through the air as he shoots. I glance up at the timer curiously to see how much time is left. Only three seconds remain.
Before I can even say a word the buzzer sounds ending the game. Yugi triumphantly sets down the water gun as the platform slows to a halt without a single balloon on its surface.
"Good work Aibou." I say fondly as Yugi retrieves his stuffed kuriboh from the karney. He replies with a broad smile as he rushes back to my side with his prize. I wrap my arm fondly around his shoulders as we abandon the game and head into the area with all of the rides.
I am forced to ride on a strange contraption called a tilt a whirl by Yugi. He pulls me onto the strange contraption and holds my hand as it begins to spin.
"Scared?" He asks teasingly, yelling over the wind.
"You wish." I say with a laugh. The world spins by in a rapid blur making all of our surrounding indistinct and indiscernible. Pure excitement rushes through my veins for the first few minutes before a strong sense of nausea overcomes me. I can almost feel my skin beginning to turn a sickly shade of green. Yugi giggles beside me as he squeezes my hand comfortingly.
/"Close your eyes Yami."/
/"Why?"/
/"It'll help with your motion sickness."/
/"I'm not getting motion sick."/ I protest as I feel my skin begin to glow an even sicker shade of green.
/"Whatever you say."/ An amused grin plastered on his face. I have to fight the groan that is fighting to escape me as I close my eyes. The world continues to spin at a breakneck speed but the sharp edge of nausea is relieved by the darkness behind my eyelids.
/"Thank you."/ Yugi simply squeezes my hand in response as the ride mercifully begins to slow. Thank Ra.
