I awoke with my head leaning on my left shoulder for support. Rope scratched against my wrists and ankles as they tied it too tight. I felt a thin layer of cloth surrounded my eyes and it blinded me from the ongoing world around me.
Damn it, I thought to myself as I realize it's probably not healthy to be knocked out cold, twice in one week. The same whispering from before I got knocked out rattled in my ear. I slowly moved my head in upright position and heard the joint crack, I guessed my neck was not supposed to be in that position for that long. Suddenly the whispering came to a jolt stop after they realized I was awake.
"Who are you?" a female voice hisses.
"Why should I tell you" I hissed back, my voice sounded weird because I haven't talked in who-knows-how-long.
"Because I'll kill you if you don't" she threatens but I was more scared of the deer.
"Yeah threaten her that always works" said a sarcastic male voice.
"Don't threaten her, we don't know where she's from" another female skittishly says.
"Shut up Lore" the threatening female voice fiercely said.I couldn't be sure if Lore was a name but that's what I would call her.
"Tell me where I am" I demanded.
"If we told you, you probably wouldn't know" Lore laughs then whimpers in pain.
"Should have listened" The other female says under her breath.
"Lore's got a point" a very deep and intimidating male voice echoes through the room.
"Fine" I had given in, if telling me where I was such a difficult task then I decided I wouldn't waste my time. "Can you untie me?"
"I'd rather die" the female's voice bitterly said.
"We need to know why you were wandering around in the forest" The other male voice said.
"I don't believe in telling my kidnappers anything"
"What do you believe in?" I could hear Lore's voice jump in and it left me wondering, do they believe in the story or something else?
"Undo the blindfold" the male voice demanded.
"But Cliff..." The harsh female voice whined but Cliff cut her off with a look or something.
I had wondered why my eyes hadn't fully adjusted to the light, only to realize my surroundings were covered in darkness.
I looked around the room some more. It was almost pitch black with the exception of a weak torch. There was not even a single window to let the sun shine through. It was how I imaged a cave to look like even though I had never seen one. My prison cell seemed more comfortable.
Suddenly, I felt the presence of four pairs of eyes staring at me intensely, waiting for me to say something intelligent. Yet their faces weren't visible due to the awful lighting.
"Nothing" I say, loyally answering their question while slowly giving in. "I believe in nothing"
There was silence for a long time and I didn't know if that was a good sign.
"She's one of us" Lore said, her voice seemed so loud next to the silence we had all experienced. "She's one of us".
"One of what?" I asked yet nobody answered me.
Abruptly, the room was filled with brightness. I critically examined the people in the room and I could sense they were examining me. The young female stood with her arms crossed in the corner, she had straight, black hair that had grown to the length of her elbow. Her eyes were dark green, almost the same shade as mine yet they were filled with much more cold hatred. The other young female had shoulder length blond hair. She had a pretty face with eyes that consisted of many colors but grey was the most visible. She smiled at me but I didn't return the favor. Next was a very tall male, he had dark skin and black hair. I could tell he could snap my neck like a brittle twig. Finally, there was a muscular young male. He defiantly had a handsome facial structure and he had brown short hair that stood up.
"I'm Cliff" he said.
I attempted to speak but the blond girl cut me off "I'm Lore, that's Dalmar" she said pointing at the tall guy "And that's Pepper" as she points at the girl who hates me for some unknown reason.
"Starlit" I say, still confused. Cliff jerked his head a bit and soon Dalmar started to untie me. Once he did, I rubbed my wrists to help prevent the loss of circulation but they were already numb.
"Thanks" I said sarcastically but no one seemed to notice.
"But Cliff what if she's lying?, what if this is her plan to kill us?' Pepper complained.
"One thing I know is no matter what town you go in, they will never lie about their beliefs" Cliff answered her question but she was still not satisfied.
"There are other towns, other beliefs?" I queried but I must have looked stupid because everyone but Cliff laughed at me.
"Don't laugh, she wouldn't know"Cliff said "only we know''.
"So what did your town believe in?" Lore probed.
"A story" after I answered her question, everyone gasped.
"One more reason not to trust her" Pepper grumbles.
"You're not gonna sacrifice us, right?" Lore said as she slowly backed up.
"I told you guys, I don't believe in it" I stated again. I wondered to myself how they knew about all these different towns. "Who are you all?"
"We are hated by every town because we don't want to believe what they want us too." Cliff tells me.
"Kind of like me" I said discovering what everyone else already knew.
"If you want, you can join us" Cliff politely asks.
"No, no, N-O, shouldn't you run this through us, me. That thing came from the Story town or maybe... I don't mean to be a conspiracy theorist but for all we know she might be a mutant." Pepper reproached about me while Cliff, Lore and Dalmar roll their eyes.
"A mutant?" I questioned that term because I had never heard it before.
"You will learn all about that, if you join." Cliff hinted at me to join, obviously he hadn't listened to Pepper's contravenes.
"Fine, I'll join" I relinquished they all seemed happy except for Pepper.
"You defiantly won't kill us, right?" Lore asked again.
"No" I lied yet I couldn't make any promises, I was already on a role. "I defiantly won't kill you".
