Cliff lead me through the towers like trees of the forest. I already had despised it's tediousness but after more hours in these woods I would have been happy if a storm came and knocked it all down. Only Cliff came because Pepper hates me and she swayed Lore from going. Dalmar had some work to do.
"Where are we going" I asked Cliff as we walked to our destination.
"You'll see" He said, intentionally not answering my question.
"How much longer, I hate this forest" I complained, he laughed.
"I've been out here much longer than you, I've lived here my whole life, don't complain to me about your contempt for this forest."
"There must be some vibe in it that makes everyone hate it!" Cliff and I laugh at the truth of this comment.
"Yeah" Cliff agreed with me.
"How do you know about all the different beliefs?, towns?" I asked as we both had gotten serious.
"My father taught me, he learned from experience"
"That's amazing" I said astonished.
"You're the first person who came to the town that remembers anything about their old beliefs"
"How did all those other people get there?"
"Their parents would bring them as babies to my father so their children wouldn't have to live with their horrible beliefs but the parents would have to go back because people would notice their absents. Cliff explained with his head down but suddenly it jolted up. "We're here!"
He pushed some branches out of the way and gestured me to go in the clearing he had made. I ducked my head as the branches were too high. I squatted next to Cliff, he moved more twigs out of the way so I could see but he made sure our bodies were camouflaged.
When I looked down, I saw around twenty people all circling two young girls. I heard the people watching, yell horrible things to the girls. The one girl had very dark brown hair almost black but with the the sun shining though it, the color was violet just like her jump suit. The other girl had wavy brown hair and she wore a pink jump suit. I was too far away to see any more detail in their faces. I watched as the girl wearing purple threw a punch at the girl wearing pink, she dodged it then ran backward. The purple girl, unexpectedly charged towards pink and knocked her to the the ground. Red blood dripped down Pink's face.
"Rip out her throat, Iris" A man yelled at purple. She seemed to be enjoying all the encouragement she was getting from the crowd. I watched as she started to get cocky as she tried to get reaction from the crowd. Suddenly, Pink picked herself up from off of the ground and jumped on top of Iris, swinging around her neck. Iris toppled over but fought back and soon Pink was back on the ground bleeding a river. "Finish her, Finish her" I could hear people chant.
"Don't make me watch this" I pleaded at Cliff "I've seen enough" I turned my head but I could sense the disappointment in his eyes. But I must. I thought to myself, I knew this was the only way to learn and I couldn't look away.
Iris stood on top of Pink and was handed a sharp dagger. She took it and slid the blade across Pink's neck. I closed my eyes for a brief second and when I opened them Iris was holding Pink's departed head up high while looking straight at us.

"What the hell was that?" I asked Cliff as we walked back to his town.
"A belief, are you really from the story town? You should be a lot more used to death" Cliff told me.
"I thought I would never have to see another human die if I joined your town"
