Chapter 10 : Must it be so?
Callum's POV
Reaching the Villa again had spoilt my jubiliant mood. The thought that Angie and Jake were actually together was an idea so unthinkable that I yet couldn't let it sink. Yeah, I know I had been predicting it for years now but I mself had not believed it until about an hour ago.
I was really happy for both of them. Especially Jake. The hardwork for so many months had finally paid off. Perhaps you know it ws the first time that Jake had stuck to the same girl for a really long time. He was notorious for an on and off relationship. It was like there would be only one girl in his life but he would be breaking up and patching up with her constantly. I don't know why he did that.
It was a warm feeling inside to know that two of my best friends were together now. It made me feel all happy, which sounds stupid but that's the way it is. Well, you know my luck is that bad that this happiness can't really last for long. Once we reached the Villa, the first thing we did was to rush up the stairs and into the place where we had discussed our plans before the ill-fated trip.
Well, thankfully the secret of Jake and Angie's relationship had been kept under wraps for an hour now, which is an achievement by itself. Trust me, no couple in the group could manage to keep their relationship secret, i.e if they wanted to, for more than half an hour.
Since our friends in the other car didn't have any idea of the momentous event which had taken place in the car, their mood was serious, bad and angry. The only thing that was running in their mind was the whole terrorist conspiracy stuff.
So obviously we sat around the table and began discussing the whole issue once again. I found this thing most boring for the only thing that was happening was people repeating the whole length of events. The only interesting thing happening was Jason and Connor arguing
Jason insisted on reminding Connor on how he was right all along that the policemen will never believe them and Connor was getting increasingly agitated, waving his hand around, his voice increasing in volume.
Finally Kyle stepped in and separated those two and managed to make everyone sit down. That obviously, didn't prevent those two from glaring at each other murderously. If looks could kill, I tell you, both of them would be lying dead on the floor by now.
Now that all arguments were over, an awkward and uneasy silence permeated the atmosphere inside the room. No one knew what to say, we all were thoroughly demoralized.
Finally, Andrea broke the silence. "So what do we do now?"
No one replied. We were at our wit's end. In my opinion, the only option we had was to contact policemen who were ranked higher in the police heirachy and convince him them that we spoke the truth.
We definitely couldn't think of taking things into our hand now. We were but a group of 17 year old's. Who could expect us to do anything?
-----------------------------------------------Jake's POV--------------------------------------------
This day was like the best of my life. Angie had finally said yes! You know, I myself was so sure that I would get rejected. In fact it took me more than 10 minutes to digest the fact that she had said yes. I fear I acted like a fool in front of her for those 10 minutes but if she noticed it she hadn't said anything about it yet.
I so totally owed this to Callum and Kyle. If not for them, I wouldn't have asked her out and she wouldn't have said yes. I was going to make sure that I paid them back for this.
Surprisingly I was not exceedingly happy or jubilant. I was just content, satisfied. 4 months of my efforts to woo her had finally paid off. It was like I had achieved something important; something which I had really worked for.
