RANG

Saying that I woke up sore is a huge understatement, believe me when I say that I woke up in a pool of blood. Actually scratch that, I'm just being exaggerative because of my annoying sister screaming her head off beside me.

"We are going to drown in our own blood and be fed to whatever creature eats meat because we are screwed," and the ranting continues. I just droned off Ling's freaking out to the background and started to examine my surroundings. We were encased in a huge box, it was too dark to tell what the material of the box was. One single light bulb was hanging on the center of the ceiling. "...and when they get bored of us they're going to throw us in the ocean wrapped in a carpet!" My sister suddenly got much louder.

"Ling calm down," My words stopped my sister's pacing, she looked over to where I was, which was leaning against the wall of our prison. In a different situation Ling would probably have exploded at me, asking me why I wasn't acting the same, but this was new. We have never been caught like this before. My sister just sighed before closing her eyes, I would soon do the same thing because we were both tired and wanted to go home.

"Fine sister, I'm sorry," Ling walked over to me and sat back, leaning onto me. I didn't say anything else, what else is there to say, we were being taken somewhere we had no idea of, and we could well off be dead. I wrapped my arms around Ling's shoulders, at least the small bout of comfort would somewhat keep us sane if we happened to be stuck in this prison any longer.

Hours seemed to pass, not a single sound or movement from the outside of our casing, not like we could see anything at all really. Our single light bulb burned out an hour before, we were sitting in complete darkness, which was soothing. You don't want to be encased in darkness with a single light you can never reach for. The cold complete dark was what could be considered our natural habitat, we always used it and lived in it. Ling and I were snuggled up in the corner of the prison, we had of course once gotten up to look around, trying to find some kind of door on the sides since the ceiling was too far up, then sat back down when we were certain there was no way out through a door.

A loud banging sound interrupted my thoughts, a spark of life ignited within both of us, and so we stood up and took on a defensive position. Unfortunately for us, all that happened was a rumbling, like a mini earthquake in our great little prison. The feeling of going up an elevator struck me, and so I concluded that we were being lifted up into the air, by something. Ling and I both had some idea of what had been going on, a significant rocking told us we had been sailing on the ocean, but other then that, we knew nothing.

All of a sudden I felt myself drop, I had to randomly guess when we were going to land so a few seconds later I grabbed my sister and jumped upwards. Our prison crashed onto the ground and we weren't affected by the impact. A dull whistling sound came from the edge of the ceiling and the whole side of that edge came down. We could see our freedom, but it was only just an illusion.

"This can't be safe," my sister inched towards the opening, looking like she was hunting prey, even if she was the one in the bad situation. "It's... Clear," my sister sounded like she was lying to herself, I just raised an eyebrow and followed her to the opening. We had landed on a beachside, "They did not fucking leave us on an island," Ling ran around the corner of the prison and started to cuss loudly at the diminishing ship.

"Where are we," I moved forward out of the box before looking back at it, it really was just a giant black box. I rolled my eyes before I turned to the deep forest, and when I looked down the side of the beach, it surprised me. This wasn't just a small island, this place must be huge, the beach just kept on going and never turned inwards as most small islands did.

"I can't believe this," Ling pulled up behind me and pushed me towards the forest, "We need to find shit," I followed my sister into the deep undergrowth and regretted it right away. It was nasty here, it was humid, and filled with disgusting bugs. "You have one don't you?" Ling shoved her face right in front of mine to catch my attention, I had been drifting again.
