Chapter 13. Lily the Artist Cowgirl

Heyo! So the only rant I have for today is that somebody at school today asked why I would get so upset over a fictional character..... Yeah

Who's excited for gm Rileytown? I already know I'm gonna cry. I saw a couple of 10 second clips and the trailer and I already had to hold back the tears! 

I also can't put stuff in the media anymore :( :( The new web security thing at my house blocks photobucket, but it doesn't block polyvore, so maybe I can find another way.

(Its been about a week since last chapters events)

Maya POV

           I wake up early on a Saturday morning, and by early, I mean 9:00. I'm getting up early because Lucas and I are supposed to babysit Lily because his mom has to go to this seminar all day for work. I get up and throw on jeans, a tank top, and a flannel over it. I do my hair and makeup and go into the kitchen for breakfast, where Shawn is sitting, drinking coffee.

"What are you doing up so early?" Shawn asks me.

"Lucas' mom has to go to some seminar thing so he and I are babysitting his little sister." I explain.

"I didn't know Lucas had a little sister." Shawn states, though it kinda sounds like a question.

"Yeah, her name is Lily, she's seven, and she's the most adorable little kid I've met since Auggie was this many" I say, holding up five fingers. Shawn smiles at my reference. Auggie hasn't done that in four years.

"Why won't Lucas' dad be there?" Shawn asks. I had gotten a muffin at some point during the conversation.

"Lucas' dad walked out on them two years ago." I explain as I sit down to eat my muffin. "He hasn't heard from him since." I decide to leave the part about his dad hitting him out, because that's kinda private. Shawn nods and gets up to go do, whatever he has to do today. I finish my muffin, go brush my teeth, and head to Lucas' house. I get to his house and ring the doorbell. Lucas answers the door, and he smiles when he see's me. He pulls me into a hug and kisses my forehead.(can we just agree that the guys who do that are the best?) I walk in and Lily runs in to greet me.

"Hi Maya! You wanna come color with me?" Lily says.

"I would love to come and color with you!" I say. She grabs my hand and drags me to the kitchen table where there are crayons, colored pencils, and paper everywhere. She pretty much throws me into a chair, sits down, and starts drawing something. I grab a pencil and paper and start to draw. I draw the flowers that are sitting on the counter. I kinda tune everything else out as I draw the roses. I finish the drawing and I'm looking back for mistakes when Lucas sneaks up behind me and scares me. I jump and drop my drawing.

"Oh you are gonna get it Cowboy!" I say.

"Really? I thought we were done with that, Ma'am." He says, tipping his imaginary hat. Then he see's the look in my eyes and runs.

"Hey Maya, why did you call Lucas a cowboy?" Lily asks me.

"Well, when we first became friends with Lucas and we found out he was from Texas, we called him cowboy." I explain.

"We? Quit lying it was just you!" Lucas calls from around the corner. I roll my eyes.

"Fine, it was just me, but it was kind of our joke, and we teased each other like that." I say.

"Well I'm from Texas too, does that mean I'm a cowgirl?" Lily asks me.

"Only if you want to be" I answer.

"Hey! How come I didn't get that option?" Lucas yells. I roll my eyes and ignore him.

"Can I be an artist cowgirl?" She asks.

"Of course you can!" I say. "Now, your brother tried to interrupt my coloring, are we gonna stand for that?" I say.

"No! Lets get him!" Lily yells and she runs in the direction Lucas went before. I follow her and find that she has jumped on Lucas' back, and he's struggling for some reason. 

"Ok, ok, I think he's learned his lesson, haven't you, Lucas?" I say.

"Yes, I will never interrupt coloring again." He says, and shoots me a look. I grab Lily off of his back and set her down. Then I look at the clock, and it's already 12:30.

"Its lunchtime already! You hungry Lily?" I ask her. She nods her head and we head back to the kitchen. I find a box of mac'n'cheese and start to boil some water.  I finish making the making the mac'n'cheese and set three plates out.

"When did you learn to cook?" Lucas asks.

"I didn't. Even you could do this Sundance" I say, rolling my eyes.

"Hey! I'll have you know that I make excellent cheeseburgers, right Lily?" Lucas says.

"Yep!" Lily says, shoveling mac'n'cheese into her mouth. We all finish our mac'n'cheese and I take all the plates and put them in the sink. Lily decides she wants to watch a movie, so we watch Toy Story 2. Lily falls asleep about halfway through the movie, so Lucas takes her up to her room. Lucas comes back downstairs and sits next to me on the couch.

"Your sister is the cutest kid since Auggie was this many" I tell Lucas holding up five fingers. 

"Well, she thinks you're awesome. She was so excited when I told her you were gonna be here today." Lucas says, laughing.

"Really?"

"Yeah, normally it's just her and me here because my mom works till five, so she doesn't really get to do much. There aren't many girls her age in this neighborhood, so she's normally stuck with me. She loves having a "big girl" to hang out with." Lucas explains. I smile at the last part. We finish watching the movie and just hang out until Lily wakes up. When she does get up, we just go run around outside. Lucas' mom gets home at about 5:30, which means it's time for me to go home.

"I got to go Lily" I say, kneeling down to her height.

"You know what? You and Lucas aren't aloud to break up." She says with complete confidence. 

"Really," I laugh, "and why is that?"

"Well, first off, I wouldn't get to see you anymore, and second, he'd probably be a wreck If you did." She says. I look over at Lucas, who's just smirking.

"Well, I don't think that's gonna happen." I say and give her a hug. "Bye Lily."

"Bye Maya!" She says as she hugs me back, then she runs off. I stand up and Lucas and I walk out to his truck. We drive back to my apartment, just kinda talking about random stuff. We finally pull up in front of my apartment building. I lean over, kiss him, and then head inside. I get upstairs, and when Shawn's not there, I head over to the Matthews. I walk in and of course, see Shawn and the whole Matthews clan. We all eat dinner, and at some point Shawn and I go back home, where I go straight to bed. I love Lily, but babysitting her is exhausting.

So theres a chapter! I am so tired right now you have no idea.

I'm kinda out of ideas for this book, so If you have one, I'd love to hear it.
