Chapter 15. Sick

I AM SORRY IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE I'VE UPDATED BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO THINK OF ANYTHING TO WRITE ABOUT i mean i've had half of this idea in my head for a while but i didn't know how to add on to it so it would be an actual chapter BUT STILL I'M SORRY

In other news, gm texas and forgiveness happened since I updated last and I just wanted to say that LUCAYA IS ENDGAME AND THAT IS A FACT

Maya POV

              So recently life has been pretty uneventful. Wake up, go to school, hang out with friends, do homework if Shawn can get me to do it, go to bed. Nothing out of the ordinary. It's actually kind of weird that everything's so normal. Anyway, again, today is a normal day. I get up, and go to school. Actually, there is one thing different today. Lucas isn't there. At first I thought maybe he was just late, and he had an appointment or something, but he didn't show up to school at all. All I know is that isn't good, because Lucas would never ditch school, unlike me. But I haven't done that since Shawn has been back. As soon as school ends I call him, but he doesn't answer. I decide to go check on him. When I knock on the door Lily answers.

"Hey Lily! Is Lucas here?" I ask her.

"Yeah, he's in the living room. He doesn't look too good." She says. I walk in to find Lucas laying on the couch, and she's right, he doesn't look too good. 

"Hey huckleberry. What's wrong?" I say.

"I'm sick, obviously." He says. I stop and think for a minute. Then I pull Lily into the other room. 

"Lily, where's your mommy?" I ask her.

"She's out of town for work." She says.

"Did Lucas take you to school?" 

"No, I rode the bus. He's been home all day."

"Ok, so how would you feel if I stayed here for a while?"

"Yay! Maya's gonna play with me!" She shouts.

"Yeah, lets play a game. Lets pretend to be nurses and help Lucas feel better." I say.

"Yay!" she yells then runs off. then I walk over to Lucas.

"You are a genius." He says.

"You're just know realizing this?" I ask sarcastically. I get up and go into the kitchen. I look and find a can of chicken noodle soup. I follow the directions on the can and make the soup. Then I put it in a bowl and bring it to him. I walk in the living room and see Lily feeling his forehead and saying "Yep, you're sick."

"You are the best" he says when I give him the soup.

"Again, you're just realizing this now?" I laugh. Then I whisper something in Lily's ear and she runs off to the kitchen. Man that kid has a lot of energy. She comes back with a glass of water and sets it on the coffee table next to Lucas. Then she runs upstairs to her room. Lucas eats his soup and drinks his water as we talk about what he missed at school.

"You really scared me you know" I say.

"What? How?" He asks.

"You didn't show up  to school at all and you wouldn't answer your phone. That's not like you." I say.

"Well I never meant to scare you, ma'am" He says, tipping his imaginary hat. Well at least I know nothing is too bad. He's still his normal self. He finishes his food and I put the dishes in the sink. I come back and give him a blanket. 

"Now get some rest" I say, then I kiss his forehead. I go up to Lily's room and find her coloring ferociously. I sit down next to her and color with her. We color for like four hours and then I go back downstairs to check on Lucas, who is still asleep, so I go back upstairs and put Lily to bed. Then I call Shawn and inform him of the situation, and how I'm spending the night here so Lily won't have to bother Lucas if something goes wrong. When I wake up in the morning Lucas is perfectly fine and Lily has more energy than ever. When I leave Lucas promises he'll make it up to me and I tell him that I know he will. He doesn't really get a choice.
