Chapter 9- Steph

Steph's Pov

As I opened my eyes I realized I was at home in my nice warm comfy bed. I rolled myself up in my blankets when the door opened and my grandparents came running in.

"Are you okay?"

"What happened?"

"Are you hurt?"

"I'm going to kill them!" Questions flying at me. I put my hands over my ears and yelled "SHUT UP!" They both looked at each other before going silent.

"I am fine, no nobody is touching anybody, and how did I get here?" I calmly responded.

"That good for nothing bitch Heather..." Grandpa started.

"Do not call her that Herald!" I interrupted his rant.

"Heather," he started again "brought you back here blacked out in her car with Sapphire in the front seat. All three of you had blood all over you and she kept blabbering about being sorry. She's locked up downstairs right now we were waiting for you to wake up before we interagated her."

"SHE'S WHERE!" I boomed as I jumped out of bed. Bad idea because I got light headed and my grandma grabbed me

"honey calm down you need some rest!" She lectured.

"No, she saved me and if you don't release her there is going to be a bigger problem." I hissed before pushing past the both of them. "Now meet me in the meeting room I will be there shortly!" I headed off to the cells downstairs.

I made my way down the stone staircase leading to the basement. At the bottom was a guard with the keys, I told him to wait for me upstairs and not to let anyone down here. He just nodded his head and went up shutting the door behind him.

I walked down the isle till I found the cell Heather was in. She was sitting on the cot playing with her magic, she was making little zaps between her two index fingers. I couldn't help but smile. Finally Heather looked up and saw me standing in there. She jumped up and ran over to the cell grabbing the bars looking at me all teary eyed "I'm sorry..." She started but I put a finger to her lips before moving that hand to the side of her face. "No I'm sorry Heather, my grandparents are a little old fashion with these jail cells and all." She didn't say anything just leaned into my hand.

I pulled my hand back and went to unlock the cell door. As soon as the door opened she flew into my arms wrapping me in a hug. I hugged her back as I felt warm tears landing on my shoulder. We stood there for some time before a knock interrupted us. She stepped back before we both turned and looked at the confused looking older guard from earlier. "My lady, your grandfather sent a message saying he is getting impatient." My grandfather really was a pain sometimes.

"Tell him I am on my way, thank you" I mumbled to him. He bowed before leaving us.

"Well my lady, we should probably not keep your grandfather waiting." Heather joked her eyes sparkling, they soon darkened turning sad again.

"I guess your right," I half whispered into the back of the retreating Heather. I don't know what I was thinking but I reached out wrapping my fingers around her wrist before pulling her into me, crashing my lips to hers.

Her arms wrapped around my body as mine moved their way up hers. One tangled in her golden locks and the other to her face. It wasn't like any other kiss it was sweet and tender, more like a good bye forever kiss.

We pulled back resting our foreheads together, interwinding our fingers. After we caught out breathe I whispered "goodbye, Heather" before turning and walking up the stairs.

I let go of her hand at the front door she started to walk away before she spun around and kissed me one last time before running off with tears in her eyes. It was killing me but I know it was the right thing. In a few hours I'm going to be the Alpha of River Pack and she was a Shadow Pack of Alpha blood. It wouldn't have worked out, maybe if things were different but they are not.

I turned and walked slowly to the meeting room where I would talk to my grandparents and they would take me to the River Pack battlefields where my Alpha ceremony was being held. Tomorrow I was going to be Alpha!

# Next chapter Adam is going to be in ;) we will see if he was accepted and how will school go for Steph when she sits next to Heather in two classes? Also a new character from Steph's past is showing up will some of those empty rooms down the hall be filled up?! ;)
