Chapter 5 Mine

It was a really busy day! I finally finished understanding and signing the pack papers. I leaned back on my chair when there was a knock on the door. With my wolf ears I knew there was someone an hour ago in the kitchen. "Who is it?" I asked.

"Your brother from another mother Derek." I knew it was Kevin.

"Come on in", I chuckled. He's such a joker. On opening the door I saw not only Kevin but a beautiful young lady with him. Red hair, small waist and keen features. She must be his mate. When she came nearer, I saw bruises on her left arm and on parts of her face too. Was all this beating done under my nose? My hands were now curled into fists. Why would someone do this to a precious girl and that too while in my pack!

I saw her stop walking and hide behind Kevin. Was I scaring her? I saw Kevin giving me a questioned look. I unclenched my fists and got up," don't be scared Alice. I was in a trance of my own and I apologize for scaring you. I will help you gain back your confidence. Trust me."

She came from behind Kevin's back and now stood in front of him. She had small lips and freckles on her nose. What made her stand out more were her sparkling blue eyes. But I knew she wasn't as beautiful as my mate. A pang of worry came from chest.

"Are you alright Derek?", Kevin asked. I think he felt what I was feeling too. "Yeah I'm fine. I was just thinking of something", I quickly said. I didn't want to be vulnerable. Nor I didn't want to look weak in front of them. I washed the worry away and gestured both of them to sit in front of me.

"Hello Alice. I am the Alpha Derek. Your mate here calls me Derek and you may call me by my first name too. I want to ask you if you can share your experience that you had with your parents. I mean I know it is a harsh subject especially for you but I want to get rid of that fear of yours by getting rid of them." I saw them both flinching to my alpha tone.

I saw Kevin reassuring her and heard him day that I could help her. The poor thing was to scared to talk. I thought we were pressuring her so I interrupted, " again Alice I know it is a touchy subject- its ok Alpha- I mean Derek". This time she interrupted me, in a soft but sad voice. Most Alphas would be angry for interrupting but I just played it easy, especially for her because I wanted to hear her story.

"I, Alice was born on the sixth summer. My parents didn't like me because I was a she-wolf. They said I was good for nothing. I was treated like a rag doll. I never had the chance to see sunlight. When my father was drunk, he used to- to whip me with his belt, saying that I was an insult to the family". She now started to weep. The girl has gone through a lot. Her wolf must be really strong, I thought. I could see that Kevin wasn't taking this to easy. By the look of his eyes changing from green to grey, I knew his wolf was going to come out any second. I was pissed off too. Those bastards are gonna get it. "My father wanted a boy. A boy just like him. Brave and strong, but instead, I, a helpless she wolf was born. But the worst part was-was when my-my father stripped me and to-took my virginity. He said that even my mate thought I was helpless and he wouldn't want me",she cried. That made Kevin snap and he turned into his wolf. Howling, he headed out the office towards the main doors.

"Kevin stop!", I shouted toward him.

"Don't go anywhere stay here. I will go find Kevin and bring him back safely", I said to Alice. She nodded worriedly and I turning into my silver wolf headed toward the front door. My wolf ran as fast as it could, following Kevin's scent.

"Kevin, I know what you are thinking and I command you to stop, I said to him through our mind link.

"I'm sorry Derek, he stated. I have to do this. I have to do this for Alice." He was going to get into a big mess and I knew it.
