Finding Love Again: Adrian's Story

Part 11: The Gift

Adrian sat at the kitchen table going over plans for his and Grayson's wedding in a few weeks, Amelia and Dev sitting at the other end of the table having an afternoon snack. As he sat going over the checklist  he felt a strong pair of arms wrap around him from behind and a light kiss pressed to the side of his neck, making his eyes flutter at the feel of the soft lips.

"Well hello there handsome what are you doing lover?" Grayson asked nipping at his neck and growls softly against her ear.

"Finalizing the last few details for our wedding, Regan's been helping me plan our big day and I can say she seem almost as excited about it as we are babe." Adrian said, a smile spreading across his face as he looked up into the eyes of the man that was his life and his heart. "All you have to do is show up looking handsome in your tuxedo and say I do." He said leaning his head back and kissed him again with a soft, airy sigh.

"Daddies! Kissy me too!!" Amelia squealed happily as she and Dev reached their small arms out to him with big smiles on their faces. Adrian and Grayson looked at both their children and smiled as Adrian got to his feet and each picked up a child and rained kisses over their faces then switched and did the same to the other child. Taking Dev back from Grayson Adrian carried them over to the sink to wash their faces and hands after their snack while Grayson leaned against the counter going through the days mail, stopping on a large envelope.

"Adrian, babe did you have a chance to go through the mail yet today?" He asked as he turned it over and opened the flap and took out what looked to be a folded legal document and a sheet of notebook paper.

Looking from his face to the envelope in his hands Adrian's heart started to sink in his chest as dread started to take the place of the joy he was feeling just a few moments ago. "No, I've been so busy with Amelia and Dev today I just laid it on the counter and was planning on sorting it when they were napping. Why? Is something wrong Gray?" He asked setting both children on the floor and walked over to his as the scampered off into the other room to play.

"This is from Bennett, Carlston and Willows law office, a letter from Tucker was in with it too." He said handing me the envelope as he unfolded the letter and started reading with Adrian at his side watching his face as he read silently. "I don't believe it.." He said softly with a look of shock on his face as he laid the letter in the counter.

"Believe what? What does the letter say, is he trying to take Dev away from us?!" He asked as he snatched up the letter and started to read it only to find the opposite was true. The letter said that he was sorry for coming to their home and disrupting their lives and that now he could see that they were truly happen and in love so he had a gift for them before their wedding. He'd had a lawyer draw up legal documents terminating his parental rights to Dev so Grayson could officially adopt him as his own son. Adrian stood there in shock as Grayson unfolded the document and showed it to him, a smile crossing his face as he wrapped an arm around Adrian and hugged him close. "I can't believe he did this for us Gray, you can adopt him now and really and truly be his father!!

"This is the best gift I've ever gotten, I love that little boy so much and now I get to marry you and adopt that precious little boy." He said turning Adrian in his arms and kissed him deeply. Adrian held onto him tightly as they kissed each other, breaking away from the kiss Adrian took Grayson's hand in his and with a smile led him to the children's playroom to give them the good news.
