Chapter Seventeen

After my shower I had started to wander the building. All the boys lived here and were all surprisingly neighbors! I thought about what I wanted to do while I was getting dressed and decided on a little visit.

"Hi Liam!" I said smiling up at him as he opened the just knocked on door.

"Kristen! Hey! Please come in." He sounded surprised but moved a side to allow me entry. "Make yourself at home." He added.

I walked in and took a seat on his couch. "Want anything to drink?"

"No. Thanks though!" He joined me on the couch after he scurried around the kitchen getting himself a cup of tea.

"How are you?" He asked sincerely. He was probably wondering what I was doing there. I had been here a week and had never bothered to visit any of the boys. I thought I would make today 'Get to know the boys day!' I saw a sign flashing neon in my mind and I laughed.

"I'm good. I came to see how you are actually." I smiled at him. Harry was driving me crazy with all his crazy issues and I wanted to help him so much, but I can't when all he wants to do is push me away. That's another reason I decided to do this, not only get to know them but Harry as well.

"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow. I nodded. "Well, I'm good too. As you know we had a gig last night, which went really well!"

"Louis told me the people went wild. True?"

"I guess wild is a good word for it." We both laughed. I remembered Louis asking about someone when the article was published... Danielle was her name! I decided to ask him about it.

"Liam, can I ask you something?" I was polite and sweet. The mention of her last time was somewhat of a downer. I wonder if it will be the same this time.

"Go right ahead." He leanss back on the couch stretching his arms and relaxing.

"Who is Danielle?"

His eyes moistened a bit and I knew this was a major soft spot and that I had crossed a line. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words escaped his mouth. He blinked and tried again.

"She's my ex-girlfriend." He said simply. This must be common knowledge to the world but to me it was new news!

"Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to invade your privacy." I said with the must apologetic voice I could muster. I felt so awful and just by looking at his face I could tell it was a bad break. I wonder what happened...

"No, no! It's okay." His face softened a bit trying to reassure me he was okay.

"What happened?" I asked. I hope talking about it wouldn't open up old wounds...

"We were both really busy. The distance was hard on both of us, especially her. So we agreed to not let it drag on." His face became soft and fragile looking. It really touched my heart.

"You still love her." I stated boldly.

He blinked at me then shrugged. "Of course I do and I always will. I know that now. September was the last time I saw her..." His voice grew quiet. "We still talk and I hope that someday we can be together again."

Being famous and having a normal relationship must be hard. Having everyone knowing your business and having no privacy probably gets really frustrating after awhile.

No wonder Liam was so enthusiastic about the interview. Danielle probably saw and it made her think less of having a relationship with him again.

"Keep smiling and being your normal sweet self and you will be." I said smiling a treasuring smile at him.

"Thanks, Kristen." He put a sincere hand on my shoulder giving it a friendly tap.

"Tell me something about yourself." I said once he had removed his hand and our little bonding moment was over.

"What is there to tell? I'm just a normal guy living in London who is in the boy band One Direction and we just released our second album." He said laughing.

"No, no, no! Your answering like I'm interviewing you! I'm just trying to get to know you better." I said smiling at him. He was taken aback a bit by my words. Probably really surprised that a hired escort would be so interested in going out of her way to know others around the main focus of her job.

I sat and patiently listened with pure interest as Liam told me about his family. His two older sisters, Ruth and Nicola would dress him up in girls clothes when he was younger. He told me about his phobia of spoons, which I clearly don't understand since spoons are pretty awesome. He told me about his dysfunctional kidney as a child and all the injections he had to get. A picture of baby Liam flashed in my head and I couldn't help, but awww. Poor little baby. He said though that he never had a problem with drinking though because of his kidney, he always watched how much he drank -even with water!- and how happy he was when he had his ultrasound and it was fixed.

"Did you know Harry was the one to get me with Danielle on the X Factor." He said laughing. "He is such a matchmaker!"

His name peaked my interest even more. I knew from Eleanor that her and Louis met because of Harry and now Liam tells me that him and Danielle came to be because of him as well. He is a sweetheart and romantic, but what I can't wrap my head around is why he is being so weird and different. Eleanor said that there was something going on and it wasn't her place to tell me. I was now dying to know... I needed to know.

"Liam, is Harry alright?" I asked innocently.

Once I spoke he knew now that he should have kept the little last part out. He shrugged. "Harry is really pressed with things. He is the baby of One Direction and sometimes has a problem with that even though he plays it cool. He just wants to be a man and have fun without..." He paused thinking. He caught himself from saying something and all this secrecy was driving me crazy! "... People saying things about him." He finished.

"What are people saying that is affecting him so much?" I pressed.

"It's not my place to say, Kristen. I'm sorry." He was sincere about it at least. Like with Eleanor the conversation ended with the same thing. "Maybe talk to him about it? I'm sure it will be okay." Liam added reassuringly.

I almost laughed. It wouldn't be 'okay'. I signed. He is barely even talking to me right now. He has even put up walls to shut me out and I don't think I am strong enough to breakdown by myself. I want to believe our feelings are mutual, but with each passing second my little piece of my faith slowly fades.

I stood. "I better go."

Liam stood up quickly as I moved toward the door. "I'm sorry if I have hurt or offended you in anyway!" He said in a rush as he followed me to the door.

"No, you didn't. Don't worry about it okay? You are so sweet. Thanks for your time. I really enjoyed talking to you." I smiled at him and he eyed me making sure I was okay. My smile never wavering he nodded then moved to hug me.

"Thanks for the visit." He gave me a friendly hug. "I enjoyed it very much."

We moved a part and I stepped out of the flat. "Me too!" I said back with the same smile on my face.

He closed the door and I turned to leave. I might not have found out much about Harry, except for that fact he is the matchmaker of the group. I learned a lot about Liam and because of that we are closer.
