The Eyepatch and the Rabbit (Touka x Kaneki fanfiction)

A Cruel World

Kaneki ran away from Anteiku after the damage he caused. He ran as far off as he can to avoid being found by anyone. He was a danger to himself and everyone around him. He managed to run a decent distance from Anteiku. "I'm supposed to protect everyone....not this...." He began to shed tears feeling his regret and sorrow go throughout his body. He went on his knees feeling the cold snow on the ground. "I can never go back to Anteiku...not like this..." All Kaneki can worry about is if everyone is okay after what he had done. The night was silent, the floor was cold, it was a lonely feeling. "Everyone, forgive me." His head was down, tears still flowing, he couldn't bring himself together.

The silent night was suddenly broken by the sound of sirens coming toward his direction. He looked up to see CCG cars drive by. His heart dropped, they were headed the direction he came from. His eyes widened "Everyone is in trouble!" He got up from his feet and began to put his mask on. "I will save everyone, even it means my own demise." He cracked his index finger and with speed began to head back to Anteiku. He managed to catch up with some of the CCG convoy and jumped in front of them. The cars began to stop suddenly making screeching noises on the wet concrete. Kaneki brought his kagune out to stop the car in front of him from running him over. Ghoul investigators and soldiers got out their cars and all aimed at Kaneki with their quinques.

One of the investigators dialed quickly to report on the situation. "It's Eye Patch, we have a probl-" Kaneki was already behind him looking into his eyes. He then grabbed his arm and with a swift move twisted his arm breaking it instantley. The dove screamed in pain and dropped the phone. Everyone looked at the Ghoul with shock witnessing his agility. "Fire!" CCG soldiers began to shoot their quinques at Kaneki. Kaneki lunged on a wall and repelled himself with his kagune and smashed the ground which created a shockwave causing everyone around to get knocked back. "I don't want to kill you so I suggest if you cherish your life, run." Some ran, yet some stayed. "Well, I tried to warn you to run." He let out a slight sigh and cracked his index finger once more. His kagune aimed at them then he finally lunged to attack.

Touka's eyes began to slowly open then she busted out "Kaneki!" Her breathing was fast as she began to panic. The manager walked toward Touka and put his hand on her shoulder. "Kaneki ran off after what had happened Touka." She clenched her fist feeling hurt that he left. "Baka...." Touka got up slowly and looked down. "He better come back." The manager looked outside the window looking at the snow fall. He smiled "I'm sure he will come back Touka." She looked at him and couldn't help but grin. "How's everyone else doing?" She looked around the room but they weren't there. "They are okay Touka, they are cleaning the cafe as we speak." The manager began to exit Touka's room and was at the door. "Rest Touka, goodnight." He smiled and closed her door.

The cement was covered in blood and oil. The CCG cars destroyed and bodies on the ground. Kaneki's centipedes were swaying and he was holding his stomach. He began to bleed out, he began to limp his way back to Anteiku. "Got to....get back...to everyone....to Touka." He fell to the ground, his vision was becoming blurry. Kaneki was slowly losing consciousness, he was still on the verge of insanity. "Kaneki?" His eyes widened seeing a figure right in front of him. The figure walked in front of him, Kaneki looked up at the only person who was his true friend. "Hide?"
