The Eyepatch and the Rabbit (Touka x Kaneki fanfiction)

The cries of Touka's echoed the room as Kaneki lay there lifeless. She slapped him and grabbed his shirt shaking him. "Wake up! Wake the hell up!" Her uncle grabbed her hands taking them away. "This isn't going to bring him back." Her eyes widened at the sound of a gasping breathe. Kaneki was breathing, barely his injuries were barely healing. His healing ability seemed to have weakened during the fight with Arima. Touka ran and hugged him, Hinami ran toward Touka and hugged them both. "We have to keep a close eye on him, Touka can we talk privatley?" Touka nodded following her uncle to another room. Hinami stayed holding Kaneki tight. "You do realize even if he's alive now he most likely won't make the night." She angirly kicked at her uncle only for him to grab her foot. "Calm down, there still is a possibilty he will make it." He threw her foot to the side. Touka calmed down and looked at her uncle. "I'll take care of him just help me take him upstairs." Her uncle nodded in agreement. They both come back to the dining room. "Hinami, were going to bandage Kaneki up and take him upstairs okay?" She nodded with a smile on her face. Both Touka and her uncle began disinfecting the wounds and bandaging Kaneki up.

"Alright now the hard part on the count of three lift him up gently." Toula nodded, her face looking nervous. "One......two.........three!" They lifted him up as gently as they could. Kaneki still was passes out, they slowly carried him up the stairs to the 1st bedroom. They laid him gently on the bed and Touka sighed with relief. "Ill stay with him." Her uncle nodded and closed the door.

Kaneki's breathing was unconsistent, this was up to his will to live if he was going to make it through the night. Touka stared at him slowly approaching him, she couldn't help but feel guilt and anger. "Dumbass, why would you run off...." She punched the wall "Why did we lose everything!" She sat on the edge of the bed, this was going to be a long night. It's around 1 in the morning, exhaustion was taking over and Touka's eyes couldn't stay open. She slowly began falling asleep. "Maybe 10 mins?" She closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Touka woke up hours later, her eyes shot open and realize she fucked up. "Kaneki!" She panicked and turned waiting to hear his breathe. His breathing had stabilized, she sighed in relief. Touka got up from the bed and went toward the bedroom door and opened it. She looked down the hallway and heard chattering. Dhe closed the door behind her and began walking toward the chatter. "Good morning Hinami" she yawned. Hinami was on the dining room table, "Good morning oneesan!" She smiled a bit. "How's oniisan?" Touka smiled he's getting better he's breathing much better. Hinami's eyes glittered with joy. They were both happy Kaneki made it through the night but the struggle wasn't over yet. Touka's uncle walked toward them from the kitchen with coffee. We need to talk, Hinami you should here this too.

"Anteiku is gone, the black dogs and apes didn't stand a chance they retreated but the manager stayed behind." Touka's eyes widened and clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. "Bastards!" Hinami looked down to the floor, feeling depressed now that her home was gone again. "Our main focus is to tend to Kaneki until he fully recovers and keep our heads low. CCG has doves everywhere looking for stragglers." He began to drink his coffee. He grabbed his jacket from the chair, "I need to make sure the perimeter is safe we wouldn't want another suprise." He opened the door to the outside and left closing the door silently behind him.

"Can I see oniisan?" Hinami asked with a smile on her face. "Hinami, right now is not a good time to see him, but once he gets better I promise you'll see him ok?" Hinami frowned a bit but nodded with a smile. She had hope Kaneki would fully recover. Touka got up from the chair and went to go check on Kaneki. She opened the door and there he was still in the ssme position seemingly lifeless. "Please recover Kaneki..."
