Tossing and turning, I jolt out of bed, wide awake. There's a cold sweat on my forehead, and the sheets are tangled around my ankles. I had the most horrifying dream. Me, mystery boy, and.... Lucas. I dream of Lucas, every single night. That's normal. It's usually good memories of us in which i usually wake up depressed because he left. Others it's bad dreams, nightmares, when he leaves me. Again, normal. What wasn't normal this time is that mystery guy was here. It started out with me, walking in a park. It's dark outside, and I can't really see. Until a person comes towards me. I recognise this person. Lucas. My Heart melts at the very sight of him. "Lucas." I say in half sigh. "Maya." Two voices reply. One obviously Lucas's, I would have recognized it anywhere. But the second I also recognize. Somehow it sounds like Lucas's...only an older version. Suddenly, Lucas looks like mystery boy. I blink and rub my eyes in disbelief. When I open them, mystery boy still stands there in Lucas's place. "Maya, I've waited so long to find you again!" He says, commuting forward." I back away, and stumble over a rock. He catches me,, and looks into my eyes. Funny...his are the exact same shade of green as Lucas's were. "Who....who are you?" I ask. Maybe it's just a coincidence that they're both named Lucas. "Maya, how is it possible that you haven't figured out yet?" He chuckles. "Figured what out?" I ask, even though I can feel the answer. "That I'm Lucas Friar." He says, and I gasp.
And that would be the part when I wake up. This room is getting stuffy... maybe I'll just take a walk. I grab some shoes and run out the door. I plug in my headphones, and just run. I don't see anything when I run, only fain outlines of things. I'll just be a minute, I just need to think. To run away from that dream.
When I finally stop to catch my breath, I have no clue where I am. Taking out my ear buds, I look around. The only light is coming from a dim street lamp above a park bench. It's a quiet little place, the only building around is a small rundown cafe. Looking at my phone to see what time it was, I see its 1:07 a.m. nearly two hours since I left. Sitting down on the bench, I try to figure out how to get back to campus. While I try my hardest, I can't remember which direction I came from.
Pulling out my phone, I try calling my roommate. It rings a few times before going to voice mail. "Hey this is Chelsea, leave me a message!" She says. I just hang up though. No use trying to call her at 1 in the morning. Walking to the cafe, I see its closed. I sit back down on the bench, disappointed. The street is quiet, so I can't ask anyone for help or directions. So here I sit, and wait.
I start to doze off before I hear someone walking. My hope raises as I can finally get out of here. As the person walks towards me, I realize I know this person. Mystery boy. "Are you okay?" He asks. "Um yeah, I'm fine." I say, not wanting to sound like an idiot for wandering off an not knowing how to get back. "You sure? It's 4 in the morning, and you look lost. Plus were about 5 miles away from campus." Wow. I've been out here for nearly 3 hours. "Here. Let me help you get back home." He says, offering me his hand. I take it, and let him walk me back.
We walk in silence until he says, "So what we're you doing out there at four in the morning, five miles away from home?"
"Well I had a very weird dream, and needed to take a walk to clear my mind."
"Must have been a really weird awful dream to make you walk five miles."
"It was pretty odd."
"Could you tell me about it."
"Um no. Sorry. You'd think I was completely insane if I did. Besides what about you?"
"What about me?"
"What are YOU doing here at four in the morning, five miles away from campus?"
"Um. Just taking a nice little stroll."
"Wow. That is such a good lie, its almost believable. So what's your real reason?"
"Okay fine, you caught me. I had a dream about my ex girlfriend, and someone else, and it just kinda freaked me out so I needed to get away."
"Was she with someone else, like together?"
"Something like that."
We continue walking until we see a cab. He flags it down, and we get in. "Stanford University please." He says. It's warm inside the cab, making me tired. I didn't realize how cold or tired I was until I got in. I close my eyes, and take in the warmth.
