The bell rung loud and clear throughout the halls of Westmore High. Causing a large wave of joy to overcome the long tired hours of dread as the school day dragged out.
The other students ran out the classroom door, leaving me alone in the room, but it was okay, I was used to it by now. I mean I've had to grow up with hardly any friends.
I slowly stood up from my desk, but I accidentally hit one of the corners, causing my books to fall over and the papers within them to scatter actress the floor. I quickly bent over to pick up the mess I had made. God I was such a cluts.
"Oak?!" Asked a voice.
My head shot up so quick I staggered backwards and fell on my butt, hard. I glanced over in the direction of the voice.
"Oak!" It said frantically, as it grew louder, the stranger quickly rushed over to me. In second I had arms wrapped around me, in a loving embrace,..... a friendly embrace.
"Ummmm...Hi, I guess." I replied completely stunned. Who was this person, and why were they hugging me? The only person who as ever given me a hug was my mother when I was little. She still tries but I have to constantly turn down the notion.
The stranger slowly pulled back to study my facial features. I could now see that the boy was kinda cute, his long dyed black hair hung low and his bangs swooped to the side. His blue green eyes shown with brilliance as he looked at me with concern.
"Oak are you okay?" He asked, his voice was warm and full with care as he stared at me, studying me as if to tell if I was hurt or not.
"Yeah, I'm fine, but who..." I began to ask before I was interrupted with a smile, and like that my past memories flooded throughout my mind.
Two young elementary boys riding their bicycles down their road, laughing and yelling cheerfully. Each without a care in the world, just two friends enjoying each other's time while it lasted.
Two boys a it older than before running wildly through an abandoned park, while sirens blared behind them. Each with a can of paint in their hands, and a work of art behind them.
Older high schoolers at a party, that they snuck out to attend. Everyone else was dancing and having a great time while two young men sat their to scared to ask the other to dance, but they each had no clue of how the other felt towards him.
The last day of freshmen year, and the school year had ended. The smallest of the two boys stood their with tears in his eyes as the other, the taller one was being drug away by his parents to another state, another home, another school.
It all hit me like a strike of lightning I saw everything at once and the old and familiar tears that I thought would never return, slowly escaped my blue eyes.
The boy looked at me with a hurt expression on his face, like he had hurt me even more and it was killing him to see me like this. Instead of fighting his strange embrace I welcomed it, as I remembered who this odd stranger was.
"Jordan!!!" I cried happily as I tackled him to the floor. We laid their for a few more minutes each in the others embrace and clung tightly to the other, as if this was all a dream and the other would soon disappear.
By the time we let got the bell had already rung beginning the next period, but thankfully Mrs. Jones had planning this period and she never stayed in her room. Rumors stated she went in the janitors closet to hang out with the male janitors, because when she came back she was always smiling, and not in the normal way, not to mention a smile does not compliment her wrinkly face if you know what I mean.
After getting back on out feet I noticed Jordan towered over me with a foot and half height difference. He was so tall and mouth watering, but that's a secret he never will know, for I would go to my grave before I ever spill the beans.
So we decided to hang out in the deserted class room, he walked over and flipped the switch, shutting off the lights, then he quietly shut the door, before returning to sit in the desk across from me.
"Jordan what are you doing here?" I asked a little over excited.
He quietly placed a finger I've his lips and smiled behind his grin.
"Calm down Oak, do you want the whole school to hear ya? Anyways I convinced my parents to let me stay with my uncle in town to finish out my senior year. They think I've forgotten my friends and that I'm visiting my family, but they're naive if they think that." He said his voice was soft, but it still sent chills through my body."Where did you guys go?" I asked
"Well at first we went and stayed with some family in Kentucky, ten not long after that we decided to moved to Mississippi, well until now lol." He explained happily.
We sat there and caught up in each other's lives like normal friends would, but the majority of that time was him taking about what he did and where he went. I sat there and listened, completely intrigued with his voice. Something about it was addicting, like it sent pulses throughout my body. Before we knew it the bell rung and we heard loud footsteps coming from the hall.
"Well I guess the days over." He said happily, as he slowly stood up from the desk he was sitting at.
"Yeah I guess so, but hey, we should hang out soon." I said kindly.
"Of course we will after all, I just moved into the house across yours." He replied
"You still know where I live?" I asked unbelievingly
"Yeah why wouldn't I?" He replied with a slight chuckle.
"Come on, don't want to be late for the buses, do we?" He asked
"No of course not." I replied, to be honest I actually forgot the bell had already rung. One could easily get lost in his dark warm brown eyes.
He helped me up and we both quickly mad our way out the double doors that lead outside. The sun shone brightly as the radiant heat against my pale skin.
All the other students were almost loaded on the buses. We had only just barely made it.
We had only walked half of the way, before I heard a loud noise coming from my left, but it stopped before I could see what had caused it.
The bright sunshine was fast to die out as the scenery around me slipped into darkness, and as my sides began to burn with an agony rage of pain, then there was nothing. Just a black painless sleepy drift of calm emotions.
