"You think that's how easy it is, Harry?" Louis huffed in disbelief. He was shaking his head as his fingers slid down the bridge of his nose to massage his temples.
"I'm that desperate, Louis!" Harry answered back, raising his arms in exaggeration. He really was desperate to keep him by his side, if being his boyfriend would stall Louis to hang onto him while he deals with his stupid past.
"I'm not that sure anymore, Harry." Louis' voice dropped down but he made sure his honesty laced onto what he said. Yes, he isn't sure anymore. He isn't sure whether he likes Harry that much after what he's done to him, after Liam confessed his feelings and their budding relationship is starting to mean more. He's not sure if the feelings he has in the past still remained because time had done so much to him and to the people around him.
No matter how impossible it may seem, time can make it possible for you. People change in a period of time, some takes a year, some takes months while others can change overnight. Time can change anyone especially after a huge realization dawned to someone's mind. The realization of something is what pushes that person to thrive for change, to become a better version of themselves in order to avoid being hurt. Change is a defense mechanism of someone who was hurt before only because they fear if they remain the same they'll just experience the same pain over and over again.
So it's time for Louis to change. To divert his feelings and attention to someone who truly cares for him and will love him dearly.
"Why is it that when I decided to take the risks to step forward here you are two steps away from me?" Harry sounded so frustrated and rejected, if Louis is frustrated with him what more he is with him. He's giving him what he wanted from him just to make him stay yet here he is, pushing him away.
"Because, Harry, you're always the one who decides what happens. You always want to have the upper hand, of course you are. You never asked me how or what I would feel about the things you will decide to especially I am involved."
"Argh!" Harry wanted to curse at anything he saw. He had the urge to punch anything with full force from his knuckles. Why the hell is this happening? He always gives the people he loved what they wanted yet they always reject what he gives and pushes him away. Why can't they just accept it? Accept him?
"I'm sor-"
"No, don't, Lou. Please. Just don't." If he ever heard Louis apologize, he'll lose everything. The dignity and ego of his as a man that's left to him, he can't bear to lost them as well.
"I know you're confused too, Haz. I am. that no words can describe its degree. I just... I don't think I'm capable of entering a relationship with so much on my hands. Trust me when I say, I do like you. I still do, Harry."
"Then why? Why can't we be together just like how you always wanted?"
"Because, this seems so forced coming from you and that...
..
.
.
I think you're not the only one right here." He has a finger indicating the part of his chest where his heart belongs. And Harry didn't know it was possible to be more broken than he already is from his current situation. He remained their frozen as his knees began to tremble and his fingers started shaking as if they have life of their own.
"Is it him?"
"Huh?"
"Is it him, Louis? Is it that asshøle who's trying to steal you away from me?"
"Haz..."
"Is it Liam, Louis?!" Harry was writhing, trying so hard to keep his sanity intact with his existence because at this rate the only conclusion he'll get is him losing control over himself.
