Chapter 18 || • Lay By Your Side •

It's been a few days since Zayn and Niall outed each other in one of their sudden press conference. Luckily for them, majority of the comments about their relationship were positive. People are dying in curiosity of what the show they are working on is about to give them since it made a huge impact on Zayn and Niall considering it served as the bridge to their relationship. Most of the people thought and said that the show's main asset will be the love of the characters. Well, they'll just have to wait for that, now that there are only a few more weeks until the show starts airing on television.

Not only it became the trending topic among social medias, but it became the main topic of the country, people talking about them at the street, clips of the press conference were shown in the news, and it filled the first page of tabloids. The presidents of the two different agencies praised the managers of the actors for the splendid and clever idea. 

Even though there are a lot of positive comments, there's also a growing number of negative ones saying their relationship is a fake and it's just a ploy to increase the ratings of their upcoming show, although it was somewhat offensive both actors decided to ignore it because they've gotten used to it. If you want to stay in the business for a long time, you're going to have to ignore the bullshit.

The lovers in topic were holed up in their own homes, not able to get out after the press conference since there's a swarm of reporters waiting and following them whenever and wherever they go. It was different from what they planned because Zayn wanted to invite Niall out and spend time with him but looks like they have to reschedule. Well, at least it gave them more time to pack their things through because they'll be going somewhere far to shoot and that's why Niall was currently pacing back and forth, debating what he should bring and not.

"Mom, which one do you like?" Niall spoke, gaining the attention of his mother who was currently in the kitchen prepping the foods she will pack for Niall and Louis. "This one?" Niall said, raising the hanger which held a white t-shirt along with a denim vest, "Or this one?" He then raised the other one which held another white t-shirt but with different print along with a red jacket.

"I prefer the one with the red, my baby boy looks good in red." Maura smiled as she went back to what she was doing.

"Okay, thanks mom." Niall hurried back to his room, putting the white t-shirt with denim vest on his bag and hanged up the one with the red jacket since it's what he's going to wear when he go there.

Halfway packing, Niall realized his closet became bigger, courtesy of Louis and his career. When he thought, he brought enough and felt satisfied with what he had packed, he closed the bag. He had nothing else to do anymore. He knew there was a lot of reporters lurking outside the building so going out is not a good option thus he decided to just memorize his lines and let himself thought about the emotions he'll need to use when he deliver certain lines which will lessen some trouble for him and make his acting more effective. In the midst of memorizing, his mind couldn't help but to wander to something else or someone else to be accurate.

As much as Niall want to admit, he misses Zayn already. He knows it's been just days, but it seems like they haven't seen each other for a long time. Tempted, he reaches for his cellphone. Debating whether he should reach out to Zayn or not and well let's just say he's not good at resistance. He made several attempts to create a message.

N: Hi . . . . . I miss you. Text me back? 

He rubbed his chin, thinking the message sounded too clingy. Erase. He's not really good at these stuff plus the fact Zayn is technically his first boyfriend, he's not really inclined when it comes to love and relationships. He was broken off from his thoughts when his phone suddenly vibrated, 'new message' momentarily appearing on the screen.
